Tales of Thresh and Fizz *Update*

Hi everyone!

So Deb was amazing today and came over and helped me pick out the new baby for the family. Except he isn't so much of a baby. And he may also may not be a he. :lol: He's from the same clutch as Baron was from, so his birthday is March 10th! And holy moly what a healthy juvie.

Even though he is a bit small at 12 inches, he can eat. Let me tell you, he can eat. Deb got pictures of him eating when I first gave him food 5 minutes after him being in the tank. 2 bowls of roaches later and a bowl and a half of baby bok choi and he seemed content. SO. PICTURES. I only got 3 before my camera died.

The last two are kind of crappy...But the camera was making angry red flashes at me and I was trying to get some.

Still no wanting greens this morning, but that's okay. I'm going to give her her Roaches and horns and then go to the walk in doctor. I've got a big infected toe from my nail breaking and it's almost impossible to stand on. Need them to fix it,and going to switch my day on tomorrow with one of my coworkers shift on thursday. Just to give it time to rest.

Brandon and I went outside with Thresh for a little bit. Even a little bit of natural UVB is good for them, but it's so stinkin hot we came back in pretty quick.

Small beard! First time I've ever seen her beard, and still not a single stress mark on her.

She liked being held a lot more then being in the box.

She stayed on me for almost 10 minutes, wouldn't move at all. So I guess she trusts me? Brandon called it a 'woman bonding thing' :lol:

I knoww! I think she is going to shed her back and tail, all of her scales have white or pale tips, so it's just a matter of when. We'll see when it happens, but I'm excited to see her full colours.

She does love you or she wouldn't be as calm as she is on you. I mean you didn't even have to hold her when she was on your chest! That's amazing! She's so calm, no stress marks no matter what is going on around her, she is an incredible juvie! Looks like you had a great time outside, all 3 of you. Great stuff.

Sorry to hear about your toe, hopefully they were able to help you out and a day of rest will do it & you good.

Thanks everyone! I'm on antibiotics 4x a day for a week, and hopefully it should be cleared up by then. It's an ingrown nail or something, and should fix itself given enough time and once the infection is gone.

And she is so calm, isn't she? I was kind of baffled at how she was much happier on me or in my hand then in the box. Oh she hated that box.

Well you can't really blame her, you're much softer than a cardboard box!

Ingrown toenails are a pain, did they take out the part of the nail that was ingrown? If they didn't they need to, as it will just re-infect. I've suffered from ingrown toenails since I was a teenager and recently had surgery on 4 toes to stop them from reinfecting all the time. I have to be vigilent & cut my nails flat across, then just file them on the corners so they can't get underneath the skin. Rightful pain, that is.

I cut my nails flat, it's not something that happens often. She asked when it started, I stubbed my toe and the corner broke off and it started after that, so she thinks it had to do with that.

She ate most of her roaches again, and pooed twice today. And I even think she ate some of her greens! (I just didn't see it.) Her poop is getting more and more firm as time goes on, so that's good.

Ahh! I realized I can order Cactus Pad's through SPUD(Sustainable Produce, Urban Delievery). Next Harvest Box I get, I'll tack that on. To explain, every two weeks, the week after brandon gets paid, we get something called a 'harvest box', it's a tubberware tub full of local, organic or sustainable produce, including fruits and veg. I spend about 35 dollars for 2 weeks, and I get a wide variety of things. This week I got peaches, mushrooms, chard, dill, a cucumber, blueberries and corn on the cob. All of this is from BC farms, so it's local which is great! I get seasonal stuff, so I can get squashes and everything else.

It's a great program, I love it. And I can get things that I can't get through the store through them!

It is. It comes right to my door and I can do everything online. I think every city and town should have it. I know SPUD goes down through parts of the states, too.

My local Price Chopper carries Cactus Pad. When I was in there picking up greens, I was in total shock. I don't go to any other stores now because my beardies love it.

I'm sure the antibiotics will do their work soon. Isn't that good that Thresh ate greens? She probably was waiting to eat them privately, even though she really chowed down last Saturday, go figure, beardies can be strange. Titan won't eat any greens if I'm watching him, the others all get hand fed, so it's not as if they can hide that :lol:
