Hey guys, I was just wondering, what times do your beardies go to sleep?

For some reason mine curls up in the corner at 2PM + , and goes to sleep! I wish I had more time in the day to play with her, anyone know why she goes to sleep so early?

Share some funny bed time stories!

Please don't feed any mealworms Nathan. As you probably know, they have a hard chitin shell that makes it hard for them to digest and pass them.

I'm thinking maybe she is being apprehensive about the new UVB light. Perhaps she wasn't comfortable under the coil and Repti-Glo and will gradually start sitting under the Repti-Sun more now, but is easing into it.

Since she isn't eating and I can tell that you're worried, you could pick up some chicken (or turkey) baby food as well as some squash baby food, put her supplement (whichever day it is) into the mixture, thin with a little water and heat in the microwave for a few seconds to take the chill off. Use a plastic medicine dropper or needleless syringe and put drops on her nose for her to lick off. Once she gets a taste, she should really like it. You might want to try the crickets first each time but then if she isn't interested, at least you can help give her a boost with the baby food.

The mealworm issue isn't new, believe me. There have been a LOT of beardies on this forum that have had a big problem with them. There are so many better choices that it isn't worth the risks.

It would be best to make some of your posts in your thread rather than posting these things on Nathan's thread.

Yes we were and soft worms or dubias are a much better choice.

Perhaps Nathan would like this info too, hopefully. Soft worms would be silkworms, hornworms, butterworms, repti-worms (phoenix worms) and even dubia roaches (and crickets) would be better choices than mealworms.

Hello Nathan,

Please keep us posted on your dragon. I agree with Diane, it does take some time to get adjusted to different lighting. They look at changes gradually & don't change quickly when they do.
I would give her until the end of the week to see how she does then.

Hey guys thanks for the info, and thank you for that Diane!

I came home today, baby had been asleep but my mum took out her blanket and she woke up and went and sat on her log. I came home to find her on the cool side, right under has UVB light!!
And even better news, my phoenix worms arrived! Sorry did I forget to mention I had ordered some? (I did know not to get meal worms).
I bought 100 large for £2.99. I picked up one, washed the substrate off in some water, dropped it in, and she gulped it down! I've dropped more in front of her, one by one, and she's had about 11 now! I dropped 3 at the same time, and after about 5 minutes of looking around, she had them all!
I would have gone by the rule of "As much as she can eat in 10-15 minutes", but my vet said I should only feed 8-10 or so? So I stopped at 11, and will try feeding her again in a few hours.
Despite her not eating the past 2 days, she had a little poop waiting for me when I got home, actually quite a large one (somehow), however her urate had a tinge of orange in it.
I'm tempted to send off another faecal test for her?

Thanks for checking up on me guys, you're all so helpful.

Yay for your baby eating pheonix worms, they are so good for her. They're full of calcium, so you don't have to put any on. And don't listen to your vet. Give her as many as she'll eat within 10-15 min. She needs the nutrition, so go ahead & feed her as long as she'll eat. :D I've also had experience with babies who were damaged when I got them. And that's when I learned about babyfood & how much they like it. But if Christine wants to eat pheonix worms, way to go sweet baby! :D :D When you next feed her, just let her eat as much as she can. That way she'll get used to eating again & she'll also start growing. The changes you've made in her tank will now be accepted better & I'll bet she basked after eating those worms. I"m glad you never figured out to find mealworms, they have not much nutrition. If you want to get other worms, look into micro-supers, they have more meat & their shells aren't as hard.

I'm so glad you found something that she likes. Not all babies like crickets. So keep on doing what you're doing & she'll start growing so fast, you won't believe it.

Keep pics up, please, she's is just such a cutie, can't get enough of your pics!

I go by the 10 minute rule with Phoenix worms - although I usually only offered them once per day - then we had crickets or roaches for the other 2 meals. Travis doesnt like Phoenix worms though so I had to cut those out!

On Debs suggestion of micro-supers - we cant get them over here :( you just get a mixed box and most are too huge for little ones - tis poopy!

With regards to the tinted urate, she might be a little dehydrated. Or, it could be the squash - squash has a tendency to make urates off-coloured.
I cant remember if you mentioned byt how often do you bath her?

YAY! Thanks Sweetiepie, I will keep you all updated!

Okaydoky, I'll let her get nice and fat!! She had a 5 minute run around, but then crawled on me and sat on my leg, so I put her back home. I dropped her on her basking spot and she's been sitting here for about 10 minutes now!
I'll try and feed her again in a bit.. but I only bought 100 of these little worms, and she's had 15 already! Definitely gona need to buy her more if she carries on this haha! And!! She's awake at 15:51, without me having to pick her up! That's a definite improvement!
YES! As I type this, she just started gaping! She gets better every second ;)

I bathe her every few days.. I should probably get a routine, because sometimes I bathe her 3 days consecutively, and the next week maybe once every other day. How often should I? She hasn't bathed in maybe 3 days now. Yeah, the butter nut squash was something I was thinking of as well, she eats a lot of that.

I'll get some more pictures posted later guys! I have a few  Thanks!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
