I called this morn and they didnt have what i was looking for. As a matter of fact, the reptilian "expert" clerk tried to convince me my uv bulb was sufficient and of highest quality once again LOL
I ended up just over an hour ago ordered the mega ray bulb from reptileuv.com
It's too bad you were given the wrong info on those dangerous bulbs because he could have had one now for a couple of wks and could be doing better now. Petstores are known for giving wrong info. They don't research beardies like we have & don't have the experience.
You mentioned that you have good temps, etc. Could you give me a rundown of the setup and what you're feeding? I know you said you were using a digital thermometer but does it have a long wire with a probe on the end? How often are you dusting the live food with calcium & vitamins? What type of substrate are you using? Babies are very particular with their needs so want to make sure everything else is fine except for the UVB of course.
What i am feeding: dusted crickets with a white vitamin powder.
Celery leaves, kale, collard and ice berg lettuce (ice berg lettuce for its water content at the very least) And the occasional mealworm when he out of the blue decides hes hungry. (as of late, i have been cutting them up and just squeezing the guts out and feeding them to him that way for reading their shells can cause impaction) I have yet to try silk worms and am dying to do so. My breeder is just waiting for a new shipment.
I have an exco terra thermometer and yet it does have a long wire with a small probe - i align it as close to Brian is to see what temp hes feeling.
As for substrate - paper towels. My breeder inicially set me up with MULCH but i quickly read here that was very dangerous and inappropriate.
And am now waiting on the mega bulb. It just cant come soon enough.
