Hi. My little bearded dragon won't eat his veggies. I mix them with his pellet food. Is there anything I can add to his bowl (besides bugs lol) that will stimulate him to eat? He eats his bugs, so no worries there.
Yong beardies care like little kids, they don't want to eat there veggies. As they get older they will appreciate there green food more. I have struggled with this as well with my little one. I actually got him to eat a carrot by wiggling it around like it was alive, but this method was by no means effiecent. I went from feeding him 3 times a day to once in the morning and once in the evening and it appeared that he had been picking at the kale/collerds that where in his cage with him constantly. actually something that I tried before was putting a few waxworms in with the veggies to get their attention, but I can't assure you this will always work. I wish I had a better answer
mine would not eat his greens (kale) so i tried mustard greens and cut them up really really fine and he has eat more than before because greens is what i give him for breakfast
As mentioned above, some beardies just won't eat their greens when young, while some eat them like no tomorrow at a young age. Try offering different types of veggies than you are currently offering, might be he just doesn't like em.
To be honest, I would not stress over it one bit and try not to force the issue if it is a juvenile dragon. They need their protein from the live feeders and that should be their main diet. Offer a small portion of fresh veggies daily, but make sure they get the live feeders 2-3 times per a day. As your beardie gets closer to adulthood, then you can start a regime of only offering salad in the morning time and then live feeders later in the evening. For now, if he doesn't want the veggies then don't worry about it. He will come around in time.
