Your dragon will be fine alone, just leave a salad in the dish while you're gone so he'll have some munchies during the day.

A young dragon will need multiple meals per day which requires much more attention. An adult can go for quite a while without meals and can be left easily with a salad for a weekend. A young dragon could get by now and then without attention but I wouldn't recommend it on a regular basis.

Edit: If you're just going to school, offer a meal and run around time before you leave and offer a meal when you get back and some time (couple of hrs at least) to bask and a young dragon will be OK too. I did this around a work schedule and it was fine.

I am gone several hours during the day, my young dragon just basks. She actually seems to like time to herself as she is new to being handled. When I get home, I take her out for a bit and then feed her. I also take her out after she gets sleepy to get in some calm bonding time. As long as the dragon gets some quality time with you, they'll be just fine to soak up the rays and eat their food while you're gone :)

As they said above, just make sure you feed appropriately: you may need to feed before and after school and even again depending on the health and age of the dragon and the type of food.

crickets are great, and there are many safe insects and worms they can have as well. I'm not sure about carrots, I believe they need to be mashed for dragons. You could try a softer vegetable instead, such as tomato. They also like bok choy, arugula, collard greens, cilantro - it would probably be easier to tell you what they DON'T eat ha!

I would recommend googling "what do bearded dragons eat" - I have had a lot of luck with the first link.

Kevie gets cilantro, tomato, acorn squash, cucumber, and every now and then a bit of fruit, like strawberry. However, her main food is crickets because they need a lot of protein while growing.

Our BD is home is home alone while we are at work and our son is at school. He is used to the schedule. He is out of his cage also all the time that we are home. We have basking stations set up for him outside his home.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
