Who knew I'd become so smitten w/these GIRLS? (Thread/pics)

My son bought our BD, Smaug, on Saturday, and by today, Tuesday, I already adore the little lizard! :love5:

He usually goes to sleep in his "cave", but he seemed restless last night. I turned off his lights and put him in his cave, but he kept coming out and eyeing me up. I decided to scoop him up and take him with me into the living room and hold him while I sat on the sofa and watched TV. I partially covered him with one hand, and he flattened himself against me and fell asleep. So cute! Of course, if I moved, he woke up, but when I got up and put him into his cave, he stayed there and slept until morning.

I don't play the game, but my son does. He spends HOURS on it every day. He has a few of the Megablok sets, and Stormwind is one of them. I decided to have a little fun. Where else should a dragon sit, but in a castle?

Hope everyone is doing well out there!

A certain little dragon named Smauggie has been enjoying a good bit of time outside her tank. Pretty much every afternoon, she was out and about. (I say "was" because she seems to be in a partial brumation.)

(In case any of you may also be into gardening, that huge, colorful plant is a new form of coleus, called "Henna". It does very well down in the hot SE. I bought it as a small plant, and it thrived! If it doesn't winter over, I plan on buying it again next year.)




Sometimes, she gets to come with us on short trips. I don't want a vet visit to be the only time she gets to go for a car ride.





She picks the weirdest positions! :roll:





But her favorite sleeping position is on her momma. :love10:





We've had a bit of a cool spell here, with nighttime temps in the low 60s to high 50s, and it has been overcast. It looked like winter. And today is the third day of sleeping for my princess. I turn on her lights every morning, but she doesn't get out of her bed. If I lift her blanket for a peek, then she'll open her eye for a second to look at me, but that's it. I miss my little dragon. But I understand. :|

Great pics, don't I know about the weather, had to work it out but we got mid 40 to low 50s, rubbish if you ask me, the season for colds and flu, it's been raining non stop for 3 days

I finally found your thread. Smauggie is the cutest, so glad she had a good vet exam. I understand about brumation, 2 of mine are sleeping and the other 3 are sort of. It's hard when your only dragon wants to sleep, but hopefully won't be for too long. I just love her colours, she's so pretty and I see she has your cats under control :lol:

Thanks! She has a lot of color for a "non-fancy" BD (according to PetSmart, anyway). I do think the Phoenix worms added to it, but she's been back on roaches for a few weeks now.

& yes, the cats are appropriately scared of her! I'm starting to think she threatens them when we aren't looking ... Sneaky girl. LOL

I peeked in on her on Tuesday and ... Well, she gave me the look.

"Don't you know that you should never disturb a sleeping dragon?"





Yesterday, I woke her up for her bath.




& then put her on the sofa with me all evening, wrapped up under a throw.




This morning, she was awake and alert and gobbled down dubia like crazy and pooped. Now she's enjoying some window time.






Not sure if she will stay awake for awhile, or head back to sleep in a few days. Last year, she was in and out of brumation, like she was afraid she was going to miss something. :lol:

Aww, sweet girl. A few of my dragons have done what I call Popcorn Brumation, up and down all winter. It's like they can't help sleeping but will stay up as long as possible, as they may miss something. At least she's pooping before sleeping again, if she does.

Cierra is fast asleep but all 4 boys are up. Nathaniel slept for 2 months, he's not up & full of energy. Castiel, the baby, is up and trying to get out of the living room every chance he can get :lol: He keeps trying to dig underneath the partitions :mrgreen: Gabriel is up but sleepy by 2p. Leo eats, then dozes the rest of the day. So they're all different. I'm glad she's up for awhile to keep you company

I am glad to spend time with my lil dragon, but I understand that she needs to rest. I felt bad waking her up yesterday from her nap, but I knew that she hadn't pooped before her little slumber, so I'm glad. Today she ate, so I hope she doesn't fall back asleep too soon.

Meanwhile, the cats are like, "Oh! She's awake again. Joy." :roll:
