Who breeds for/ or has Silks?!!

Anyone breeding for/ or have baby silks?! Im getting educated more and more each day on them and they are quite hard to find. Im on the market for one!!!!!!

No intention to breed. Maybe later tho.....not sure. Never intend to breed a female silk.

Lucky for me I like to spend a little extra time on my beardie, so I dont mind a little extra work. I know a lot of people are weary of silks, but from what I heard they get treated just the same but need to be lotioned and keep an eye out for shedding on toes and the possibility for skin tearing. I keep my enclosures simple, Id never house it with another beardie, and Id never breed a female... so I dont think ill have any problems in that area.

I think silks are really going to grow in popularity once people see that they are still a beardie, just different like any other type of the many beardies. Time will only tell.

True, You right. Get a male, get a blue eye dragon . I was thinking of breeding my 2 leatherbacks to get some silks. But i dunno.

I can understand people's feelings about silks, its a BD without scales.....but there are many types of lizards/reptiles that have smooth skin. There are so many morphs that humans have created, why are silks any different? You still have to breed similar chacteristics to get a desired outcome. Even in "normal" beardies there are some that dont make it, have seizures, or deformed. Just a way of life.

Those who are concerned with silks, where have you found information that says they are prone to certain health issues? Im not asking this in a challenging way at all, just that I have tried to find information on this and I cant really find any set in stone issues...other than they are prone to skin tearing. Those who actually have silks, I been told that they are cared for in the same way as any other beardie and have had no problems. So if you have information that I have been unable to find I'd like to see it. I wonder if this is just the stigma against silks that is being passed on.

As for the 2 leathers together, many people have done it. This doesnt mean you will get a bunch of silks, but a combination of a leathers, normals, and silks. Those who are wanting to do this should know silks DO take a lot more effort and time, especially since they are more prone due to injury of nips and not having enough moisture/lotioning to shed properly. If you have the time and can spoil every single one and house them seperatly, and feed their little hearts out then I dont see the problem.

But, I know that I personally would never breed 2 silks together.
1) female shouldnt be used for breeding due to skin tears
2) more diversity is always best in a strong genetic pool
3) do you really want to be lotioning 20ish babies all the time? lol

Ha thats silly. My bf is actually the one who got me into beardies. I initially really did not like them cause I had held my friends brothers beardies and they were not really tame and they were stinky! But one day we walked into a pet store and I went straight to the snakes and he found the sweetest BD. THATS where I fell in love. She was a normal BD who had been nursed back to health from MBD. So sweet, big, and cool! Few weeks later I bought my bf a BD when really it was for me lol.
