okay, so i'm really confused, can someone explain to me what a transluscent bearded dragon is? is it just a name or does it have physical characteristics different than a regular bearded dragon?

Howdy!

Transluscents are gorgeous, strange looking morphs of a bearded dragon. I absolutely love their eyes but their skin sort of throws me off, makes me think they'd be easier to get injuries or something. @_@ Now I have no idea about that or anything but that's just what I feel when I see them. they're still gorgeous, if a bit... different. Like I said though their eyes is what I love best! Always pure, alien black.

Bloodbankdragons produces some of the most beautiful ones I've seen.

http://www.bloodbankdragons.com/photos/PhotoAlbum.asp is the link to his photo gallery on his webpage and you can see for yourself just how they look. Sorry I can't get too technical with it... I know they have the black eyes and their skin seems... well, transparent? xD;

It's just a type (morph) of dragon. The easiest way to tell if one is translucent is their eyes will be black (no color around the edges) and their spikes will have no color to them, they aren't clear though....to me they look to be the same color as items that glow in the dark. They're really pretty, I have a lemon citrus translucent, he most certainly stands out from the rest of my group.

thanks, i'm in the market for something different than what i have, i have a crimson red, a super citrus and a leucistic. was looking into a silkback , not only hard to come by ,but so expensive, also looked into a lavendar back, hard to find too , so i have been on bloodbank's website. talking back and forth to them about purchasing a trans leatherback opposed to a translucent. again , i'm confused, translucent leatherback, or translucent, what's the difference, i'm really not an *****, just confused. KUdragongirl do you have a pic of your beardie i can see ?

Leatherbacks have smoother backs then normal beardies, but not as smooth as silkbacks. So a translucent leatherback, I'm guessing, would appear more translucent than a regular trans because of lacking as much scales.

Good luck on the hunt for a new beardie! :blob5:

Barry and Kisa at Bloodbank are great! I have an Orange Hypo male from them. They were great in answering questions and Barry is good explaining the physical differences between dragons.

But, if you want to understand the different genetics of the different Morphs you NEED to read this article. It explains the genetics and appearances in an understandable way. Especially with the interesting mix you have...you really should read all of the following, but the first is MOST important.

Then read these:

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
