I do love Locusts, my boy loves the chase and waxxies as treats.

Where can I find LOCUST in the US? How come I rarely see a posting about locust. Are they a good feeder, nutrition wise? My beardie is only 11 inches, can I feed him that?

unfortunately for me i have to say crickets.
I HATE them though >.>
but they are the cheapest for me to buy since I am getting less hours at the place I work. I also live at home with my parents while I go to college, my mom wont let me breed roaches. I would have said PWs but both my beardies poop them out whole.

So im stuck with the STINKY crickets! yay go me!

after owning bearded dragons for over 7 years, you go through trial and error with several different feeders. I have used crickets,mealworms,superworms,roaches,butterworms,silkworms,hornworms,zebraworms,waxworms....about 4 different species of roaches. the ALL TIME best feeder hands down is roaches. Over my experience with all kinds of feeders, i found ROACHES the most beneficial for me and the dragon. With a higher meat to shell ratio than crickets, less smell, no jumping, less disease prone than crickets, will survive a hot summer with zero die offs, will breed easily, has live birth....the list goes on. Roaches are great once you get a colony up and running, you will not have to buy another feeder! These guys breed quickly depending on species. I currently have a dubia colony breeding for a month. I started with 200 nymphs and 6 adult pairs and already have a bunch of little guys running around. They do not smell and are easily maintained. Now, as a second feeder but more expensive...it has to be hornworms. A low fat diet if you want to call them due to their low fat ratio, these guys are green stimulators that will get the most stubborn to eat. one monster horn is like eating 5-7 crickets so they get full on 2-3 instead of feeding 15 crickets. They are however more expensive so a supplement feeder is suggested. Superworms is what i feed while my colony is breeeding which are also beneficial being higher in fat and less of a shell than mealworms. I have learned over 7 years that mealworms are absolutely a NON feeder as well as waxworms. Some say they are good as a treat but they can be addictive like giving candy to a child. Hope this helps !!

1- Roaches
2- Hornworms
3- superworms

I agree. Not really scared of roaches..........just that I spent 15 years in NYC fighting them off in my apartment. That's why I'm with silkies, horneys, butters now. My beardie is so healthy and chubby and gentle...it's working. Was giving phoenix for a while - but she lost interest (and they are tiny). She's also been doing well with her veggies - now that she's 9 months old. For so long I offered salad - but she hardly touched it. That's why you need to give some EVERY day till she's feeling it.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
