What age to handle bd?

At 6 weeks old it is still pretty young, but you can start handling him now. This will help him to get used to you. I wouldn't handle him for long periods of time, but a little daily at first is fine. Just be careful... they are fast little boogars and can leap out of your hands. :shock:

If you are going to try hold him/her i would sit on the floor so if they do a runner it wont be such a big fall

If your beardie does decided to run out of your hands (and most likely will... they like to explore), and you can't catch him, you might have the urge to grab him by the tail because that seems like the only way you'll ever be able to get him back. Please, do not do this. That can hurt them. I've had to tell this to countless people who were new at owning a bearded dragon & they would just grab them by the tails and pick them up. No.
If you're having trouble getting him back, put your hand in front of him (don't worry, he won't bite you), and just try to guide him back to a more open space.

You can always take him in a bathroom and put towel down under the door so if he does get down and run he can't escape and get too far away from you. He will run and will jump at that age. They are very curious.

Handling for interaction could be done after 8 weeks... But yes, stay or sit on the floor so the Plummit can be avoided.

However, you should be bathing him 3 times a week if he is a hatchling so you still will be able to handle him regularly during bathing and cage cleanings.
