Just finished building my first enclosure! Not super-fancy, but Garrus certainly loves it. I'll be working on building a basking platform and ramp/bridge to go in there later this week. So many pictures on this thread inspired me to build this cage, so thank you all!

Looks like a good viv build so far! I hope to get around to making one soon too. :study:

Been working on a new cage for my Spike.

Started as a 9 drawer dresser, now its almost complete, minus some sliding plexi doors, and a few small items. Going to have a Reptisun 10.0 48" strip light, a 100 watt heat emitter and a 150 watt heat lamp.

And last but not least. Spike going for a ride to Menards with me today! They don't mind me taking him in, he rides on my shoulder the entire time. Today Spike is officially 24" long with a 3-3/8" wide head and weighs 664g.

Now this is only the first whole day with Penelope's new 40 gallon breeder tank, nothing amazing yet but I've got big plans, All I need is the grout :D

That looks very nice & neat. Lots of basking options too. Great that you're using probe thermometers too. If I could make a suggestion, colored bulbs can be hard on their eyes and they light bright bulbs, so you might want to think about changing to white basking bulb instead. Could you fill us in on the type and brand of UVB you're using, couldn't tell by the picture.

Okay on the white bulbs , that's an easy fix but you've got to wonder why they push them as good bulbs if they could cause the dragons any sort of discomfort but then again they still sell calcisand :/.
The UVB bulb is an 18 inch Reptisun 10.0 ofcourse, hehe, I'm paying attention. Just went out and replaced my Zilla UVB floresent because there is concern they are somehow unreliable or inconsistent with their UVB out putt.
Thanks for the tips , I really appreciate it :)!

That's good that you'll change to a white bulb and can even use a standard household bulb for the basking bulb. Great that you have the Repti-Sun strip fluorescent, just wanted to cover all bases. Don't know why they push the red bulbs, just to make a sale I guess. The colored bulbs aren't good to use at night either even though some pet store employees say that they can't see the red color but it can indeed disturb their sleep if shining right in their faces.

Yes, the Zilla bulbs are very inconsistent with their UVB output.

Well I appreciate this site and your wisdom. I've learned so much from all you hear, prior to getting my Penelope, I came here to find out all there was to know about Bearded Dragons.
Thank you for checking on my setup and giving me the good advice, thanks also for being concerned about the UVB bulb, and I had just changed the red bulb earlier this afternoon because I was having some temp issues and the white bulb worked best anyway :)

Keep up the great work!

They push the red bulbs because they're still good for other reptiles, so they're gonna make them regardless and if they can make a little extra profit by expanding their market (despite the lack of morals) then they're gonna do so. I know red bulbs are actually pretty good for nocturnal snakes and such as they can't really tell a difference between a red bulb and a CHE. Specifically ball pythons I believe can't "see" red light, they sense it like they do infrared heat.

It isn't much yet. I'm going to start building a 4x2x2 soon for when he is older. When that gets built I plan on making him an amazing viv.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
