Vent Direction

Which way should the vents face? up and out? or down and out? does it matter?
would facing it down keep the heat in better as facing it up may encourage the rising heat to escape?

I have both of mine facing down but for the heat thing i really dont think it will matter. I did it for the reason that he can get right up to the vents so i figured if they were facing up and he tries climbing them he can get his nails stuck in the vent where as facing down he cant.

overall I doubt it will make a difference on the air flow.
