I was gone for the weekend with a school retreat, and when I came back there was a brownish urate in Joyce's tank. It was HUGE. Much much bigger than her normal urates.

How old is Joyce?
The urate looks hard, was it? That can happen when they become dehydrated or are getting too much supplementation. What type of supplementation are you giving & how often?
shes full grown and have had her for more than a year. she has not gotten any vitamins for a while because the dogs knocked it over and destroyed the bottle. But I just bought rep-cal with d3. Anything else i need to buy? I don't know if it was hard or not, because it was old when I got home.
Ok, as an adult, she only needs calcium about 3 times per week. Are you using a long tube bulb for your UVB or a mercury vapor bulb?
How old is your UVB?
If you have a mercury vapor bulb, calcium with D3 is not usually necessary if you have a strong bulb. However, lately they have not been very good. So, if you have a long tube bulb, hopefully it is the Reptisun 10, then calcium with D3, at 3 times per week, is fine.
If the urate dries, it will become harder & chalky with drying out.
