Hi, anyone here have problems with handling their beardies? Every time I get Chimi, he tries to wiggle away from my hand and sometimes he falls from my hand. I think my beardie doesnt like me :( What should i do about this?

How old is Chimi? How big is he?

How are you getting Chimi/holding him? Beardies can take time to get used to people, and they need to be approached gently. Try petting Chimi (run your finger along his back, stroke his beard and the top of his head, etc) before picking him up. When picking him up, slide your hand under his chest/belly and allow him freedom of movement to adjust himself on your hand/arm, making sure all of his limbs are supported.

If he is often falling, I would suggest holding him at a low level. Sit down with him on the floor so that if he falls it isn't far. If he ends up on the floor, don't pick him up right away (although, make sure he doesn't show any signs of being injured, of course). Maybe he would like to explore and get a chance to know the general area of the room. (If he's very small you can put some blankets around the bed and handle him on the bed, giving him a small space to explore without getting lost.) He can then approach you - and other items in the room - as he wants to.

I hope that helps... :)

Hmm ive tried this before but it didnt work :( Chimi is around 9 months now and 16 inches long, i guess he is already a sub adult. Is it because in the past few months i wasnt interacting with him that much as compared to now?

Hmm Ive done it before but it seems like Chimi doesnt like to be held. He's already 9 months old and 16 inches long, maybe a sub-adult already? Everytime I let him down on my bed, he would simply run away and jump from my bed and just find a space where he can dig for a while and then sleep. :(

You are 100 times his size lol...of course he runs away. Just give it time, he'll eventually learn to tolerate you better. You have many years ahead of you to build a relationship with the dragon...no sense trying to rush things. This type of behavior for younger animals isn't uncommon. He'll calm down over the next couple of years...most likely :p

Hmm.. Alright, I guess I have to be more patient, hehe!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
