I was wondering if beardies could hold up in a car. I have a leash for T.J. just in case he tried to get away. How long can they stay in a car? What temp does it have to be? Etc.

I dont know the age of your beardie but i took mine on vacation when he was approx 8-9 mo old.....it was a 6 hour drive and he did great. Granted it was summer and i didnt have to worry much about temps however we did run the air conditioner in the car to keep somewhat cool. My guy is pretty much happy as long as I'm holding him. Maybe take some shorter trips to get him used to the idea.....When we did have to get out he did pretty well hanging out on the console or the seat for a short time.
I bring a cat carrier with us with a "blankie" when we could potentially be in the car or somewhere where i need to keep him safe. :)

He is about a year old. He was never really fond of driving in the car but he hasn't gone that much.

I can't say my little man loves it but i have found he prefers not to be sitting up high seeing everything pass by, he seems to like sitting in my lap or being lower than the window. He does sometimes get "nervous" at first but once we get going he calms down and just hangs out. He gets a little dark and stressed with each transition like us having to get out for a minute or something like that but within a couple min or so he "lightens up" (lol).
Before our 6 hour trip i took him for a couple short trips like to the store down the street and to petsmart...maybe 10-15 min in the car. But they all have different likes and dislikes; hopefully you can change his mind so he can go with you where ever your going!

My Sunset actually really enjoys car rides. Sometimes he sits up high and watches everything go by. Other times he basks on the dashboard, or sits on my knee and chills out. Pretty much anytime I have to leave the house when the sun is out I take Sunny with me. I have not yet taken Pele in the car because she's only been with me a couple of days, but once she has settled in more I plan to take her out to see how she likes it. Errands and day trips are a big part of my experience with my dragons. When I was a child, I had a beardie, and I took that lizard EVERYWHERE. Including school. On a daily basis. Yes, I got away with this. XD She was very quiet and well behaved, Oribeth was. I miss her still. I don't even remember what happened to her. I think she must have been rehomed when we had to move from Santa Cruz to Vacaville, as we rehomed a LOT of our pets then (something we now THOROUGHLY regret -- in retrospect, the very fact that this jerk made us do that should've been a sign that my mom shouldn't have married him, but, you know, hindsight, all that.)

But anyway, the point is, beardies are hardy creatures. They're not going to fall apart just from a simple car ride. Just don't leave it in a parked car alone. As with any pet this is a VERY bad idea.

my boy loves driving, but i,'very been driving with him since I got him. we picked him up when he was 4 weeks old and have to drive 6 hours home. so now when I have to bring him in the car he is so happy. loves the window.

Leave early so you won’t be anxious about arriving late and to accommodate delays. Road conditions may change due to inclement weather or traffic congestion.

Thanks for your answers! If I have any time I'll try a short drive. It's winter right now so I don't want to freeze him  ! Does anyone know if you could bring them on a plane? I'm not trying to put himon a plane, so please don't get mad at me for animal cruelty or anything!

I have taken a beardie on a plane before. They don't ALLOW it, but I was young and felt I could do whatever I wanted. This was pre-9/11 though so I'm not sure you can pull it off anymore. I basically just put her in my pocket and then snuck her out once we were actually in flight so she didn't get sat on. I know they have special animal freight areas though so they can be safely shipped by air.

That reminds me of the time we snuck our puppy into Chick-fil-A  ! He was in a purse and just sat there patiently :D !

You will probably have to contact the airline for that. I think some airlines allow it if it sits in a cage under the seat.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
