To Puff or not to puff?

I can't tell sometimes if my bearded dragon is puffing his beard with his mouth because he's angry or hes just simply trying to cool down.
He is kind of a baby (a month or two old) so I can't really tell.

Whats the difference?

Puffing isn't involved in cooling. They puff out their beard and puff up their body to stretch, or when they are feeling aggressive or are scared. Gaping is for releasing heat. They just open their mouths for that.

Our beardie puts on a big beard and puffs up his body to stretch his skin out when he's about to shed. Usually first thing in the morning.
