Thor's Thread 03-14-12

As some may know my little Thor is growing well. More then doubled in size since I got him ~2 months ago. I have him on a very varied diet. He has shown a flighty, aggressive attitude toward me in the past and the more I have been hand feeding him he has been coming around more and more. Progress! He is in a 40 gallon breeder enclosure, 24 inch Reptisun 10.0 (2/3 enclosure length) Has a piece of decor I got from a local pet shop, the piece was broken (which I fixed) so I got it for half price :wink: This decor allows him to get 6 inches from his UV source and ~6 inches from his primary basking light. His basking temperature is ~107-111°F. He is provided a daily salad which he does eat. Dusting per a preferred dusting schedule. Only RepCal supplements used. Has a low profile large diameter water dish. Reptile carpet substrate a hammock and a vine used to help get up his basking decor. The basking decor doubles for shade, UV cover. Thor is bathed 2 times a week.

Typical daily diet - ~50-70 1/4 crickets, 15-20 small silkworms, ~2-5 small butterworms, 1-4 small hornworms. He gets an occasional wax worm when I have them has had reptiworms in the past. Thor has yet to deny any feeder offered.

I will get pictures up on this thread of him soon. I will leave this with a question... anything I can improve on?

Now I am like really wanting a digital scale, I might just go right now down to walmart but, ehh lol at the same time I kind of want to just sit here too. :?

Thor's new pics are wonderful AND scary. Like how are you getting him that big so fast? Are you using one of those medival torture devices they use to stretch people :wink: But the digital scales are awesome. I bought one from walmart for $20 and when I got home, I found out we had one already :roll: but eh that one's in the kitchen, but not like we weigh our food lol

Honestly he just eats ALLOT. He gets 2 meals mon -thurs and typically 3 on fri-sun. This morning he had ~35 crickets (2 week) and 4 small(ish) hornworms. When I got home from work and was giving dinner, he had ~50-60 crickets (2 week), 6 small butterworms and 5 small(ish) hornworms. He was still hungry too. As we sat on the couch and watch a bit of TV he was trying his little heart out to eat hornworms from their container. :shock:

He needs to get a job if he wants to eat like that lol :wink:

So to recap today Thor ate (~) 85-95 crickets (2 week) 10 small butterworms and 9 small(ish) hornworms. :shock:

Dresden measured a full 12 inches this morning! And his body is still in shed :? He's getting a good bath this afternoon in hopes of getting it to start to go. I'm hoping his back will start to match his legs and ears. I LOVE the color Thor is developing. I hope Dres looks that sharp

If we really want to do comparisions then we need to state how many feet/inches the picture was taken at. Pretty close though Maggie great job.

Okay so i got a new digital scale today and was really surprised by the results. First I tested its accuracy placed on a 10g weight, it read 10g on the button, placed another, perfect and another again perfect. So I am trusting this information completely.

Thor's official weight is **drum roll please**.............. 94g :mrgreen:

LOL, you will love having a scale like that! Even though Thor will come to detest the site of that thing LOL

Razz starts squirming big time when he sees the plastic container we use to weigh him in :mrgreen: Very very soon you may need to do the same to get an accurate weight! LOL When they get a bit too big to fit properly on the scale. Thor is eating his way there....likely as I type this! LOL
