no its not getting hot or anything. the only thing i would change is i would make them about 5 or 6 inches short. it seem harder to maintain the temps in the basking spot but it is in no way a huge deal. lol! the lights just stay on more to keep it hot.

the bulb is a 24'' reptisun 10. and its just a regular fixture you can get at home depot for like ten dollars. and the basking fixtures are just closet light fixtures that where less than two dollars a piece.

im seriously thinking about it....just with my new son and my full time job i have to find time to build the first couple kits..lol! i already want to refine the tanks i have now...they would be for sale if someone wanted to pay the right price for them and let me build another one before they took them from me. lol! i have some new ideas i want to try with my next tanks. if these ever got sold they will have sliding glass for doors. im not to fond of the hinged doors. the inside of the tanks are completely water proof. they are coated with a sealant that is usually used on garage floors.

they are all temp controlled and on timers. the tank on the left is a slave to the one on the right. and they both have a day and a night fixture.

what do they look like they are worth?

you could definitly sell them for a Easy $450 shipped anywhere in the U.S.A

only saying that because of size and the fact that they are not made of melamine

but still excellent looking tanks and like i said you could definitly sell them like they look for $450 shipped easy i would buy one too they are awesome looking

so i went to tile in my big tanks! lol! i had a small 40 gallon and the bottom broke so i cut a piece of wood to fill the bottom and i decided to put tile in that tank so the wood would be protected and it is a breeze to clean so me and my room mate decided to get rid of the smelly sand and go to tile. i will post some pics soon. next is the slidding doors!!!

wow that is great! I bet your beardies really love it! We're planning on building one for ours, but I am in no way as talented as you are, I need a "cage building for dummies" handbook! lol

so the enclosure kit idea may possibly be comin to reality!

i and another friend of mine want to build enclosures ...but i need a Consensus as to the measurements you guys may want just as what you think would be ideal....

the ones i built are 4x2x2. and they where double stacked. i can make singles or doubles or maybe even triples.... im just curios as to what size do you want the enclosures to be if you where to buy one.

i want to make a couple plans for people to pick from. like size wise and whether to build doubles or not. the electrics would be something you may have to do yourself because i think me wiring stuff could become a liability on my end. i could include fixtures though...and run the wires out the back of the units...

i need input guys! what would you want??? that is the question. and that goes for you snake guys also! we will be building some for my friend and they will be closer to what would be for sale. i will post pics as they are built. but i NEED to know what you guys think and what your opinions are on the size of the enclosures... all my units would have sliding glass tracks, not hinged doors unless that what you wanted.

Awesome stuff. I've definitely been thinking about building one with a similar door system as opposed to the crossfire sliding door. I would be interested in a kit. I wouldn't pay an arm and a leg for it, but definitely cost of materials plus something for the time and effort you put into preparing it. 4x2x2 is a great standard size.

Finally, a question. Does anyone see an issue with keeping a screen as the permanent front? I would feed in a separate tank. Would it be too much trouble regulating temps? Bandit, have you had regulation issues? I think the openness would be really nice.

I would think that would be a little hard on your wallet for the electric bill because you would have trouble containing the heat. Unless you had your enclosure in a separate room. I agree though openness would be nice! Let me know if you figure something out!

i havent had any trouble with the units holding heat but it would prolly be alot more cost effective if i had glass in the doors. they would heat up alot faster if the doors where glass.

You asked about input on the size. I would say that 4x2x2 is good, but some may be interested in a 3x2x2. would your kit be a melamine kit? I ask because I am looking to build or buy (or both in this case) a new viv in the next month or two.

yeah i would be making them out of melamine or coated mdf. i was thinking about having them all pre drilled and pre cut/pre drilled and labeled but i was checking freight charges and it may be possible to ship them complete but im sure sipping a kit would be more feasible. all you would need is a Phillips screw driver to put them together.

thank you for the size suggestions. : )

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
