the mother of all enclosures!

hey guys! ive been hard at work all weekend on my new enclosures...im exhausted but they are almost done!
i am going to be coating the inside tomorrow with some sealer and then hanging the doors.

these tanks are freakin awesome! it is a total of four 4x2x2 enclosures that are all temp controlled and timed for day and night so day temps will stay between 100-105 and night temps will only range between 70-75.

these are just the prototypes...

and i can dim the basking bulbs to make(thats a day and a night bulb, two separate fixtures) them heat up slower... i have one tank that has the controls on it and the other tank is a slave to the first(i can prolly add one more tank). if i hit the dimmer then it will dim all tanks but it will not interrupt the uv fixtures! it is way cool!

i have pics of the whole process but i left my digital on my table and im at work now but i will be posting pics from start to finish on Wednesday. they will be completely finished by then.

the wiring of these suckers is intense! lol! but i had my friend that does heating and air controls for a living helping me all weekend!

come back wednesday and i will have the whole process posted. i may be able to post some of the pics tomorrow...im excited to show everybody what ive been working on!!!! i think you will like it!

yeah ive been really excited about finally building these suckers! lol! i figured it up and the total was around three hundred $. but that was the cost for me cuz i got the hook up on some stuff that we needed.

so finally! i have the tanks in my apartment! : ) here are some of the progress pics! i will have some pics of the tanks in my apt with all the lights on and doors on here in the next day or so. but here was the process!

All I can say is wow. I am so excited about these enclosures and they're not even mine! They look amazing and very...complicated. haha. Your beardies are some lucky lizards Actually, it is probably the other way around...haha.

Can't wait to see them completely finished.

p.s. the doors will be getting glass in them soon. just didnt have the funds to put glass in right away so i had to put screen in them for the time being.

i was actually think about building kits for people to purchase so all the pieces are labeled and slotted for easy assembly. cuz i could easily ship kits. it would be way too hard to ship complete units. i have some plans that would make for pretty easy assembly if some one has the capacity to operate a power drill or a nail gun. there wouldn't be any cutting involved.

i wonder if people would buy them...? what do you guys think? i could even make them out of hard wood or what ever you wanted really. and you would have to buy glass for the doors. but the kits wouldn't have any electronics on them...that would be way too complicated. lol!

no electronics? would there be a place for the uvb's and basking bulbs or would we have to put those in ourselves?

If the price is reasonable, I would sure as hell buy a kit from you!!!

well the way i was lookin at it all thats involved in putting in the fixtures is screwing them to the roof of the enclosure so yeah i guess that would be easy enough to include. you would just have to wire in plugs so you can plug into a timer or somethin..

the idea i have would make it really easy to put together. all holes pre drilled and a diagram of how they fit together. like putting together one of those little kid puzzles with like five pieces! lol! and it could only go together one way! lol! so no one could mess up to bad.

What kind of boards did you use?

i used 1/2 and 5/8 MDF on these. i think my next ones will be hard wood.. i think it will have more of a furniture look that way. ya know somethin you could put in your living room. im prolly gonna change the doors to two double doors instead of one full door. like i said these are pretty much just proto types.
