I somehow missed that Tengu got so sick and had to go to the vet. No sure how that happened either. Yes, it's not unusual for dragons to get fatty liver disease. So one thing you need to look for, to give her daily, is milk thistle. If you can find liquid, it's easier to give her the right dose. I was giving Leo .3 ml twice a day of the liquid and he was just over 600g. But if you can find only capsules, I'd say 1/3 capsule, mixed with water, twice daily. Just take the capsule apart, divide what's there into 3 parts, mix 1 part with some water and feed her by syringe, or even mix it with 100% juice and water, 1 part juice to 3 parts water. If you look milk thistle up, it's to help reduce fat in the liver and help the liver to function properly again and detoxify. And yes, it's going to be hard, the having her in her tank for 2 weeks. I don't see why you can't have her in sunshine, though. I don't think it's the dubia, I think it's the honey worms she was eating for awhile. If they're like our superworms, that's what caused it in Leo. Roaches and bok choy were was got his liver normal again. But best do what the vet says. She does have to reduce in weight, I had to do that to Leo, too. He's the only one that has ever had issues with their liver and the rest eat worms as staples, even though I did buy roaches and have a bunch now.
And as for roach babies, I leave them with their parents, who are very protective of their babies. They also eat the poop from the adults, so I don't clean out the tank regularly, only put in more food, clear out old food, but only clean out the full tanks twice a year & sometimes not even that.
So it's been crazy with the grandkids. I'm finding Safara very difficult to handle. And the two of them are, of course, very curious and into everything. Eric and I spend alot of time "helping" them clean up. Safara is very spoiled, which is Eric's fault, he hardly put her down the first 9 mo of her life. She also likes to scream, which I could hear tonight when I went out, right to the elevators. So the two babies are sleeping with Eric in the living room, he has quite the time getting them to sleep. I'm much firmer to them without the frustration that he feels with the whole situation that is going on. His ex Tara constantly fights with him and vents that everything is his fault! She is awful and I'm hoping he won't listen anymore and just leave. So having the kids here until Monday after his work was her idea. I told him I'm not giving any more of my Mondays to kid care, they can come over Friday night and say until Sunday, then home after supper, period. He needs his sleep and he's not getting any with the kids here. This is all new to them, too, she decided on Friday that he should bring the kids here, so we didn't even have time to prepare.
I knew this would happen at some point, they're totally ill suited, but moms can't tell their grown kids what to do. I know some do, but I've never been that kind of mom, let him sink or swim, is how I look at it. I'm just glad he left her, even if it's taken away my weekends for the forseeable future, can you tell I love my son? But have to be careful that I don't do anything for him, food wise and that I put my foot down about weekend parenthood. So he has a long way to go and they haven't even done a separation agreement yet.
I love my grandkids but didn't expect to have them for 3 days in such a small apartment. Eric and I will figure something out.
So you and Tengu go back to the vet in 2 weeks? Give her a bit snuggle from us, k? Can't you have her out of the tank at all? How is she to get exercise, like she does?
