Tales of Thresh and Fizz *Update*

Hi everyone!

So Deb was amazing today and came over and helped me pick out the new baby for the family. Except he isn't so much of a baby. And he may also may not be a he. :lol: He's from the same clutch as Baron was from, so his birthday is March 10th! And holy moly what a healthy juvie.

Even though he is a bit small at 12 inches, he can eat. Let me tell you, he can eat. Deb got pictures of him eating when I first gave him food 5 minutes after him being in the tank. 2 bowls of roaches later and a bowl and a half of baby bok choi and he seemed content. SO. PICTURES. I only got 3 before my camera died.

The last two are kind of crappy...But the camera was making angry red flashes at me and I was trying to get some.

It's my day off today, so Arya has has has to get a bath tonight. She's getting smelly. Her slate and wheel need to be cleaned off, too. I'm going to go down to Micheal's first and pick up some stuff for halloweeen costumes for Arya+thresh. I'm going to look at their clay's too. I took 2 sculpting classes in school and really enjoyed it, so I'd like to do it on my days off and the days where everyone else is out and I'm alone. Just to help keep me busy.

I offered Thresh her supers and I think she almost pooped herself in excitement. She charged at the tongs and snatched the first up so fast. She got 8 for this morning, and I'll give her 5-6 more tonight(is that going to be enough for her or should I give her more?).

Micheal's is also right by PetSmart, so I'm going to stop by and get 5 horns for her, too. She'll like those.

Everything needed for the costumes was picked up today. I got Thresh the 5 horns, and she had 2 for dinner and was very happy for it.

While I was at Petsmart, I saw they had a Ball Python and I asked if I could hold it. Oh goodness what a sweetie! It just chilled in my hand and was happy as could be. I squealed like a child and wanted to take it home right then!

I also saw 3 baby dragons not even hitting 5 inchs and one of them I could see it's hips...ughughugh.

Honestly, Jolene, we could vent for pages and pages on how badly beardies are cared for in pet shops and not even make a dent. Oh well.

Glad you enjoyed holding that snake, their skin is so soft, like silky velvet. And I'm looking forward to seeing those costumes!

I tried doing part of the costume last night, didn't work out at all. So I'm going to make some home made play dough and make it like that. It just isn't possible to do it with anything else.

I forgot to mention, after Thresh got her 2 horns last night Brandon and I were lying on the bed talking and Thresh started gaping. Second time I've seen her do it, I couldn't help but laugh and think that she was happy and 'smiling', even if I know that wasn't the case. :lol:

But they do look like they're smiling when they're gaping, it's just so cute!

Call me when you get home tomorrow and I'll come visit once you're home, if that's still ok.

Titan is doing very well in the bedroom, I think he was intimidated by the rest of the crew being out all the time, he's basking better, eating and looks better even though he started the anti-fungal oral med today and was covered with the cream. So I'm so hoping this is working, the lesions are already cracking & drying up & I've learned how to use the CHE to keep him warmer at night. All good.

Hey Deb, I lost your number. I'll be home by 1:30 but give me until 2:30 to get ready(you can start heading over around then). Arya really needs a bath and her cage to be cleaned, and I haven't had an afternoon to do it yet(or put it off for one reason or another). I know if you come visit before it gets done it won't get done tonight. :lol:

I'm glad Titan is doing better. Poor soul, but I'm so glad you caught that YF early.

It was nice having you yesterday, Deb. Good to catch up and hear about Titan in person instead of reading everything. I love that boy.

As for Thresh, she gobbled up almost all of those roaches this morning. Only if they were running around her though! What a stink. :lol: She wants to hunt, so I'll let her.

She also measured in at 16.5 inches yesterday everyone! Going through another spurt, she'll be 17 inches by 8 months which makes me happy. Though she won't be a monster like Liz's Sorin!

Yes, dainty, that's a good word for Thresh and that bright orange beard, you almost have to wear sunglasses to look at it, it's become so bright! I enjoyed myself a lot yesterday, Jolene, sorry I couldn't bring any of my boys with me, I don't dare. I've learned more from another facebook site I belong to, so I'm getting more info every time I ask. Titan ate again today and even though I put the cream on him, he still was active in his tank, which is great to see.

I saw my doc today, go to the lab for a bunch of blood tests and then a lung xray, we're being thorough, testing for a lot of things to get to the bottom of this fatigue I'm battling.

She's going to be at least 18-19" if not longer once she's full grown, can't wait to see what colours she gets as she gets older, can't see that the beard can get any brighter

I'm bringing Thresh to work on Friday for a little while. It's my only day off this week, and I've got a few regulars that have been begging to meet her. Going to finalize a time with someone and then bring her over for 30 minutes or so. Not long enough for her to get too cold, but long enough for everyone to meet her and ask questions.

I'd like to bring her to a school close by for young kids and do a little educational bit on her, too, and other reptiles. I think it would be really cool. I'll have to figure out who to contact to do that. We've got some teachers that come in, so I'll ask.

I'll get lots of pictures of her. She's so calm so I doubt she'll do anything but sit around on shoulders and being proud of herself for it.

Awww, sounds like a great plan. You can make a rice bad & warm it up in the microwave before you go to keep her warm, too. I'll be looking forward to lots of pics.

Thresh and I had a great time, we were out for a full hour. I made her a rice sock from one of brandon's socks, took a full bag of rice to do it but now I have it. She stayed tucked under my sweater and on the sock for when we were outside.

As I expected, she was calm as could be and handled everything like a champ. Here are some photos. I didn't get as many as I had hoped. I stupidly forgot my camera card in my computer and my phone died. And the photo's are blurry. Ugh.

She loved this pumpkin. Had to sit on it for a while. I'm thinking about picking it up for her.

No one wanted to handle her, they were afraid of dropping her or her scrambling up them. Hehe. But I had a few kids come into the store while I had her and they asked questions and got to pet her.

Everyone was also blown away with how beautiful she was. Ha.
