Tales of Fred the adventurer! - Updates 4/25/14

Hi everyone! I just wanted to make a 'blog' about my bearded dragon Fred.

He came to us on January 16th 2013, around 2PM. When I saw him, even though there were other babies in his tank, :love10: I knew he was the one I was going to take home that day... Of course the pet store guys gave us bad advice, so I'm so glad to have found this place, or else I would of gone on, still doing things wrong. (Thank you to those that helped me!) On the drive home, I was so nervous his little tiny container would slip from my hands and down to the ground, I also thought his container was a bit too small, (his tail was curled a lot) but, after a safe ride home, I held him until his tank was set up, then finally I put him in there, we put crickets in, but he just stared at us, after a little while he ate some. (Again, I was worried.)

Anyway, time for some pictures!

This is Fred on his first day home- So tiny!:

Oh and his tank has changed since these pictures were taken! :wink: Oh and the pictures are small because they were taken with a iPad.

Thanks Zandi. When I went to see if Oliver was okay last night, Fred gave me a look, before i picked him up, as if she knew he was gone, all of my animals came out of their hides/shells when I started crying, my rats climbed their door, and my hermit crab came out of its shell, and I think my turtle poked his head out a teeny bit. That made me feel somewhat better, it was like they all cared for me...or they were asking for food. But usually they don't ALL come out at the same time for food. Besides, I had already fed them all...

I hate being sick...
I caught a cold/or caught my moms flu.
I keep coughing, and all this coughing is making me gag, (I have a bad gag reflex... The slightest thing makes me feel sick.) and the gag makes me feel like I'm going to throw up. (I'm afraid of throwing up.) I'm afraid of putting a cough drop in my mouth because when I cough I breath in and then I cough, and I'm afraid I'm going to swallow it.

Agh... It's so annoying. I've literally been sitting on the couch wrapped in a blanket watching Christmas/Princess/disney movies.

I don't know what to do...

EDIT: Now I'm watching Elf while playing a game and writing short stories. I seriously don't want to move at all.
My mom made some honey mixed with lemon juice, that helped and now I'm not coughing as bad. I also took some sinus medicine.

Best part of being sick: there is none. Other than the fact you get to sit around and watch movies AND eat pretzels with sunbutter and chocolate chips. (Sunbutter is sunflower seed butter. It tastes the same as peanut butter to me, but don't take my word on it.)

Hey Hoopy. I just saw about Oliver(gosh I need to keep more up to date with everyone.) I'm sorry. You know how it was for me with Cho, too.

Fred's seriously starting to freak me out. And NOT in a bad way.

I walked up to her cage the other day when she was stressed because her cactus fell down for the 50th time.
I said "hi" and she looks up at me with this sad look, so I said, "your such a pretty dragon." She looked at me with a sad look again, "I'll fix your cactus..."
And her colors starting lighting up. :shock: :lol:

Your last post about Fred made me laugh. She knows how to get you to fix things. When we have kids (The only kids I have have scales) we want them to be happy and smile a lot. It makes us smile inside.

I'm sorry you lost Oliver. I know you are right, he was sick to start which it's hard to tell sometimes until it's too late. I know you still love him and I'm sure he knew it. I read you post about him in memorial and I thought it was really good. I enjoyed all the pics you posted along with the notes for each picture. You did a great job on his memorial. No one else could have done such a good job.

My dad accidentally cut the water line earlier while I was in the shower... So... no faucet water, no fridge water, no shower water, etc. Will Fred be okay without a bath for a few days? We might not be able to fix it today. It's really frustrating. :?

Yes, I'm sure she'll be o.k. I know how frustrating it is to try to deal without water. No water to wash your dishes, shower, drink, unless you have water in jugs just in case. We have had to do that because we have a well and, because of one reason or another, we have lost water for days at a time.

age, but no he was sick and he hid it well. He caught a

Were good the reason I have not posted is because we've been hosting all the holidays and its really hard to keep up with everything... I love seeing family and all...but, I just want the holidays to be over... I have my birthday on the 15th and then the family on my dads side is coming over on the 18th. It's just so stressful. I can't take it anymore. If we host one more holiday, I will burst. :|
