Taking your dragon outdoors

if he's comfortable w/ YOU then the container idea should work out.. keep your hand/hands on him when you're out, it seems to calm mine.. even when they're eyes goes bonkers adjusting to the light and air.. have you had him in a windowsill w/ a screen?? that seems to please/interest mine and might give him the mid-feeling of being out if he can feel a bit of wind coming through the window and see the trees and smell the air before you take him outright.. he/she'll adjust and it's prob. one of the best things you can do for your beardie.. fresh air and real UVB.. other than lots of love of course.. :roll:

today was our first time out, and i think she enjoyed it cause she really brigtened up but in the beginning i think she was a little scared of birds and all flying around but all in all a good expirience. i took her out with a self made harness, which she was also wearing for the first time

Took Iroh out in his tub, he was a bit scared and sat on my hand the entire time with his head craned up looking at the birds in the nearby trees. Poor kid! But he didn't panic or try to run, and I know the UVB's good for him, so we'll probably be getting out a few times a week. I'm sure it'll be good to acclimate him early too, since he's going to be out and about with me a lot as an adult.

I take Boba Fett with me when i go out on walks and stuff. He just rides on my cleavage(He is a boob man!) and loves looking around at everything. I also put 1 of those cat perches(IDK what they r really called, its carpeted and makes the windowsill big enough for a cat to lay on) on our window sill, and he really loves looking outside. On sunny days he will spend all his time on there, and even some rainy days lol I plan on making him a leash when he gets full grown but for now I think hes fine just riding on me! I think he might be too young still so it will probably be next year Boba Fett will be joining us for the Forks 4th of july Parade :mrgreen: that will be an exciting day!! haha!!

I take Enkou on car rides and inside lizard friendly places (my local aquarium shop, pet stores, etc). I've also taken him out on my shoulder when I take my dog for a short walk. Enkou is super calm and relaxed and doesn't hardly even move while riding on me, either across my chest or on my shoulder. I'm planning on getting him a harness/leash when he's older (mostly so I know what size to get), so he can have monitored yard exploration time, and for security on car trips or whatnot.

But yes, safety is always number one. Monitoring, keeping the beardie safe and comfortable, etc. Don't want to force one into it if they are scared or spooked. Ease them into it, just like getting them to know and trust you. But taking them outside, even for a little bit is always fun and exciting as long as it goes well.

I walk around outside with my guy on my shoulder. No harness. He's never tried to jump. He gets really bright orange when I take him out
