So... I have been feeding my beardie dubias. Today, I was getting ready to feed him the last of 1000 dubia roaches when I found mites. Yup... mites. What affect could this have on my little Marvin?

Hello,

What foods did you recently feed your dubia colony?
Mites when ingested, "should" pass through without doing any harm to your dragon. How many did he have?
I have personally never had that issue, but a lot have I know. If he seems to have any tummy issues, you can give some probiotics to help out & some extra oral fluids to help flush anything through.
He should be fine. Just be sure there aren't any mites in his tank though, as those are a pain to get rid of!

So we ordered the dubias online. 1000 of them and even ordered some roach food too. He has been through just about 950 of them already... i didn't notice until tonight that there were little mites crawling through the roach poo. His cage was completely cleaned tonight and he got a bath also. We got rid of the roaches and the tub they were in. We now have crickets u til we can get more dubias. And have Marvin plenty of veggies. He doesnt seem to be acting different, he has been eating these same roaches for about 2 weeks or so.

Hello,

Oh well, it doesn't seem to have been affecting him then if he has eaten most of them.
The mites were probably in the roach chow, was that a dry or powdered food?
Hopefully you have better luck with the crickets then. I am glad you got everything cleaned up before they got into his tank or on him, too. They are a huge pain to get off of your dragon.

It was powdered food. I hope it isnt in the food because we are starting a dubia colony, and we have been giving it to the adults too... now that you have said that, i have to check the food too because now Im panicking a little bit.

Was it little white grain mites? They are often in grain based foods and are harmless. They are a pain to get rid of though. It requires reducing humidity in the room.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
