supers?

Great feeder if your dragon is over 16 inches long. I use it as my staple insect for my older dragons.

I feed each one of my older dragons 10 a day but they could probably eat more, i'd rather them eat more salad.
Don't feed them though if your dragon is under 16 inches long.

Congrats on getting your new beardie. I wanted to mention that in order to prevent liver/kidney damage, it's a good idea to only offer 50 small feeders like crickets or about 35 live feeders like supers a week to an adult. Their diet should consist of 80% greens and only 20% feeders at that age.

We'll want to see pics when you get your beardie. Feel free to ask any other questions.

Good info though, I didn't know about the 35 per week... 40 or so wouldn't hurt them right, cuz thats about as much as each of my elders get per week?........ What I would give to have your knowledge Diane.

Hi Brandon. :wink: Actually, sticking to as close to 35 as you can would be healthier and safer. Supers are quite fattening and can put the weight on them very fast too. It's also a good idea to use more than one live feeder not only to keep their interest but to help balance things out. Have you ever tried horns, silkies or dubias? Since the silkies and horns are soft and if you feed ones that are on the small size, you could actually feed more of them and they are actually easier to digest than the supers. Something to keep in mind.

Ok thank you, sorry for going off topic.
I actually do have a dubia colony that is just getting going. I cleaned it out earlier tonight and feed off my extra males to them. So I will cut back on the supers, thank you very much.

It really wasn't off topic Brandon. We're discussing feeding adult beardies so it also helps tank4102 with some alternate feeders.

Dubias are great too, a lot less care than crickets, that's for sure. All 3 of my adults and my 4 mo old really like them.

yeah im planning to feed hornworm's here and there. the current owner feeds him 5 supers a day , and his greens but he dosent look skinny tho
