Lori, I am SO very sorry to hear that Goldie is no longer with you. It's so very hard to watch them give up. When you explained that her beard was black and she was spitting out the food and not taking the water, I knew she had given up, that's the way their bodies shut down. I went through that with Gizmo and Judas, they just knew the time was near and didn't want anything more. I know how badly you are both hurting. With her urates so yellow and gold, it sounds to me like kidney failure. My heart aches for both of you. You both did everything you could to try and help her and she was SO loved.

Thank you, Diane. You are right, I believe I saw her giving up Friday am when I gave her the carnivore care that she really didn't want it seemed like she'd given up then. She knew it was the end but I didn't want it to be the end for her.

We had taken her into the vet in Tucson in June of 2011 because she wasn't eating like she had been before. I realize now (too late) that we should have asked for blood tests, or maybe the vet should have thought to suggest them. I remember him saying that he didn't see any reason for her lack of appetite and gave us the carnivore care that seemed to work then for a bit but her appetite never got back to what it was the year before. We went through this with Miss O back in 2006, around October. She died 2 days short of 2 months after her best friend died. We didn't know much about beardies then, especially proper husbandry. I do realize that, especially after your Misty and others, that you can do everything right but still loose them. You can spend lots of $ at the vets for nothing sometimes. We will always love her and miss her and she will always be in our hearts along with the others we lost.

Lori,
Poncho and I are both very very sorry about Goldie. Miss O & Miss Y are certainly showing her around and taking very good care of her. If you, Bill, or Rosie needbanything at all don't hesitate to let me know.

With love,
Blythe & poncho

I know that feeling all to well Lori, it's so terribly hard being in that horrible situation. You want them to keep fighting to survive and to get stronger. But, one thing I noticed with Judas, he was always so full of vigor and acted so much younger than his almost 10 yrs, it's like he knew he could never act like that again so we know now that since he couldn't, he didn't want to go on any longer. They know when their quality of life has diminished and refuse to eat & drink. You're right, sometimes no matter what we do, it happens anyway. I had no warning with Misty, fine one day and gone the next. I am so sorry that you had to go through all that again that makes the hole in our hearts even bigger. We will always cherish the wonderful times and memories we have of them. They are such a "gift."

Roger is taking great care of all of them and has quite the lap & chest full of our special babies.

I believe they are all a gift. Goldie was given to us one month shy of 4 years ago and, up until about May or June of 2011 she had a really great appetite. We even took her to the vet in June of 2011 and the vet couldn't see any reason for her lack of appetite. We lost Miss O in October of 2006 and at that time he said the preliminary blood tests showed severe kidney failure. We should have known to ask for blood tests on that, but it had been 7 years and after all that time we didn't remember or think to ask until it was too late for Goldie.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
