When you explained that her beard was black and she was spitting out the food and not taking the water, I knew she had given up, that's the way their bodies shut down. I went through that with Gizmo and Judas, they just knew the time was near and didn't want anything more. I know how badly you are both hurting. With her urates so yellow and gold, it sounds to me like kidney failure. My heart aches for both of you. You both did everything you could to try and help her and she was SO loved.

I know that feeling all to well Lori, it's so terribly hard being in that horrible situation. You want them to keep fighting to survive and to get stronger. But, one thing I noticed with Judas, he was always so full of vigor and acted so much younger than his almost 10 yrs, it's like he knew he could never act like that again so we know now that since he couldn't, he didn't want to go on any longer. They know when their quality of life has diminished and refuse to eat & drink. You're right, sometimes no matter what we do, it happens anyway. I had no warning with Misty, fine one day and gone the next. I am so sorry that you had to go through all that again that makes the hole in our hearts even bigger. We will always cherish the wonderful times and memories we have of them. They are such a "gift."She knew it was the end but I didn't want it to be the end for her.
