Yes...shedding(before or during)can disrupt a bearded dragon's behavior. They may have loss of appetite, which of course would make them poo less. They can also be a bit cranky and unsociable due to them being uncomfortable. Soaks daily will help with comfort and ease of shed for your beardie.

Hope this helps,

Dawn :D

What dawn said. Only thing I will add is as dragons get older they dont shed in one piece like a snake. It a leg here, part of the tail there. It can be funny sometimes.

This is so true...in fact my beardie, who is 5 yrs old, is about to shed. Let's see....the only parts that are going to shed are the last half of her tail, the right side of her beard, the bottom half of her front left leg and an itty bitty smidgen on the back of her right thigh  . Don't tell her I said this, but she looks rather funny at the moment...LOL

Thanks for the info on this one. We have had our first beardie for 3 months now. Boy do we have a lot to learn! We think he is 4 months old. His whole body is shedding. He is only eating a little and quite lazy and unhappy. By your posts I am pretty sure it must be his shedding and in a couple days he will be back to himself again.

Hello and Welcome to the forum,

I just wanted to reassure you that it is more than likely the shed that is causing your little one to act differently. As mentioned above...frequent soaks in warm water will help your beardie tremendously with his shed. :D

Thanks Dawn :) I have read on these forums a lot to help us make sure we are taking good care of him. All the experienced advice is a huge help. Especially in our community. Beardies are not popular. I really don't know why! They are great :D

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
