4 year old male, twitching started gradually over the years but has noticeably increased. Recently he had a whole spasm where his tail, legs, arms, stomach, and beard were twitching which really freaked me out. It was over pretty quickly and he moved on like normal. He usually twitches if he tenses up his muscles like when pooping. I just wanted to ask what else I can do to treat his twitching? I’ve been making smoothies full of calcium which he seems to like, dusting his roaches/worms, and making his salads full of calcium (he only takes a few bites). For UVB, he has one of those long uvb lights (I forgot what it’s called lol) but even then I make sure he gets sunlight almost every day. What else can I be doing?

To much calcium can cause issues also, the best way to know is a blood test by a vet.
Also if you have any kind of evergreen wood in his enclosure it is toxic and twitching and spasmscan be a symptom.

This is the only wood he has right now. Also there aren’t any vets for reptiles near me but I’m still looking around. Either they only do mammals or their reviews are bad.

One of these. It’s placed about 9 inches above his basking spot but I’m planning on moving it. I don’t remember exactly when I bought it but it’s about time to replace it so I need to buy a new one however he was showing signs even when the bulb was new.

Ok is it on the screen or inside the tank? Distance and placement is crucial- please change the bulb out in 10-11 months

Screen because I’m still trying to find a way to get it inside 😅 I’m buying a new bulb this weekend.
He's not getting enough uvb- please get it unobstructed - take the screen off or set it vertical over his basking decor- place the screen butted up to it w/ your basking bulb next to it - distance 12-15 inches

Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
