Vicky, congrats on the new additions! They're adorable!
I am enjoying them as well. They are very cute.I know they herd but unfortunately I cannot keep all 3 and no one seems to one to take them as a group. There is one that seems to shy away from the other two so I am thinking of keeping her and giving away the pair together. I really do not have the room for all 3.They say proper cage requirements for three cavies is 10-12 square feet and I just don't have anywhere I could keep them with that much space.I dont think it would be fair to keep them all cramped up.Monkey":367p00nb said:I love guinea pigs, I have had several as a child. They are easy to care for and happy little buggers, they talk a lot esp when getting food and they do need a lot of attention. I would probably say keeping two are good for them, personally I wouldnt be able to give one away at all. They are horde/pack animals so to say. They enjoy eachothers company a lot which you probably already found out. I had one that ran around with me everywhere, her name was Sweetie. Did you guys know that GP when they are born can take care of themselves emidately they do not need to suckle nor need their parents one of the reasons the south american indians used them for food, easy to breed, grow fast and then dinner... (old history)
Congrats to your new addition that never happens me no more.. I used to find random pets everywhere but.. *lol*
I want more pictures
Yes I still have all 3. I found many people who will take an individual but ewally wanted to give them as a pair or group so they would be happiest. They are doing well.Chirping like crazy and being spoiled.LOLgulfbrzdawn":367p00nb said:Hey Vicky! How are the three little pigs doing? Do you still have all three?
Thanks. It is good to know there are other suckers besides me  Not so many rescue groups around here unfortunately for these guys but truthfully I have not looked too hard into it.I am getting attached so I want them in forever homes that I can visitkeschete":367p00nb said:As a big SUCKER myself, I quite understand, look at my signature. I rescued most of my animals. So I feel you pain and the whole thing about the hubby, is exactly what happens here. But my husband can not complain, because I care for all the exotics. He doesn't have to touch them.
Guinea pigs are great, a little messy, but you keep the cage clean, feed them pellets and some alfalfa or timothy hay and put some vitamins in their water, and they are good. A salt and mineral wheel and vitamins in the water will keep them healthy. They don't live that long compared to some other exotics. Wood chews are great too. They hardly ever bite and make a cute little rumbling sound when happy.
There are rescues out there if you can not keep them.
Best of luck, message me if you have questions. Thank you for rescuing them!!!
