I've used a red slate rock and large river stones in my vivs forever and never had a problem with it.

Cool thanks. I love the look of this stone, but I wanted to be sure before buying it. I was just worried that the edge might be to rough for my 2 babies. The guy I am buying from said he sands the edges so they aren't that bad.

Originally I soaked it in my sink with as hot water as my sink would produce with some bleach for as long as it took for it to cool enough to stick my hand in. Rinse well, then allowed to dry. Then baked in oven at like 300 for an hour or so.

For quick cleanings I let them soak in hot water with antibacterial dish soap for a while.

If you live near woods or a natural running water source then there's no reason to purchase rocks. You'll find rocks everywhere that you can use. My rocks have edges to them and my dragons don't complain. One of them sleeps on an unbroken geode.

I found some good sized fossils one of my last trips. You know the ones that have tons of tiny holes. I have a theory that they can help with shedding because they're rough like pumice stone.

I have one of those fossil ones it has tons of holes, but I found it to be a problem, because the crickets will hide in that rock badly all day long and won't come out until the babies have gone to sleep...when I finally took the rock out for cleaning and I hit it tons of crickets came out. Had to be 2-3 dz. So that is why I was wondering about the slate. We leave near rivers, but there is just to much snow and ice to go out there and look.

It's not bad to feed them in their tank. You just don't want to leave crickets and other feeders in them because they can bite or be annoying to your animals. If you take them out afterwards you'll be fine. I'm just too lazy to do that.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
