i dont think i follow you as to having water on the bottom of the aquarium with pebbles? you mean in a water dish?
i personally dont use water dishes as it does raise the humidity too high, it cannot go over 40 so i just spray their greens and bath them weekly/ fortnightly to keep them hydrated, having them at constant too high humidity temps can bring on respirectory problems especially if the temps in the cool, warm and basking areas are not correct.
