Puffing up stomach

My beardie's stomach puffs up while he is eating - is this normal?

How much does it puff out? Could just be going into attack mode. Can you post a photo of him puffing up?

Yes, I can when I feed him today ...... It's as though he's expanding his stomach so he can eat more!

This only happens when eating, then it goes back to normal.

That doesn't look like attack mode. I've never seen a dragon drag his stomach like that. Especially just temporarily. Perhaps some of the others on here have further insight into this one.

Hopefully, but thanks for trying! Petey is totally fine in every other way - alert and active, eats like a pig and potties every day. Just does this one strange thing ....... hmmmm And did I mention that he loves his mom?? lol

Of course he loves his mom! She takes good care of him. His behavior sounds normal and healthy, I'm just not sure what to make out of the puffing stomach. It may be totally normal and just what he does, but I can't say with any authority. I hope someone on here with more experience can confirm that is the case.

I am not very experienced with beardies, but my Einstein was doing that same big belly pose while eating this morning. He also has no issues that I know of, and is generally a happy boy! He flattened out again after eating.

Hi Jessi! Same thing with Petey - guess it's nothing to be concerned about - but wish somebody knew why they do that .......
