We tried to feed our dragon with a syringe just now, and besides getting very angry he then threw up in his enclosure, and now he's struggling to breathe.
He has not been eating much for the past week, we went to the vet today and they gave us some protein food to feed with a syringe if he didn't eat more.
This evening he only ate a couple of roaches and no worms, so we tried to supplement with the protein food (or whatever it is). He seems to be swallowing, but it's pretty clear now that he got food into his lungs. Or something - he is clearly struggling to breathe.
I am on the way to a 24 hour clinic here in Seattle, but am not sure he will survive the trip (probably another hour).
How is your dragon doing today, any improvements?
It sounds like he may have aspirated some fluids, but hopefully he has been able to clear them out.
Let us know how he is doing.
Reflecting back on the events, it seems most likely that when he threw up the food he breathed in enough to complicate his breathing. Up to the point where he regurgitated he just seemed very mad, not like he was having trouble breathing. But we'll never know for sure.
We all feel terrible about what happened. We miss the little guy so much.
