Are these a good staple? I was looking at a site that has a chart for nutrition and it says that they should be fed occasionally. So I was just wandering what you guys thought

Hi,

I think you can use these for about 35-40 % of your meals. However, for all food counts: the more variaty the better.

Cheers,

Thanks!! I was going to order some silkies as well and some of these he will still get crickets, I was just hoping to maybe encourage him to eat with some variety :D

Hi,

If you are going to order silkies: these are very good as staple food. A lot of proteins and minerals, low in fat and a soft shell so no danger of constipation. Also, they contain a lot of moist so the need for extra water will be minimized. The objective could be that these are hard to maintain as they eat a lot (I think you can order food for silkies as well and this will keep up the nutrional value of the silkies) and have to be put in a clean tank daily. But the butterflies can be fed as well, so you can put these in the tank when they have hatched by accident (takes about a week or two).

Keep giving phoenix worms as well, it is said that these contain something which minimizes the change of coccidiosa. And that is a very good thing.

Cheers,
J.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
