Petition for petsmart and pet co!!!

What if the people I talk to say I MUST go to corporate to get resolved as t hey cant do anything or they will get fired. I have tried for over 1 year to get petsmart to change their care sheet that STATES "beardies need calciumm 2-3x a week" . Well mine has MANY problems do to my following that rule the 1st week of life!! As babies calcium is 5x/week with vitamins.
They dont sell the lights that according to research our good.I have actually presented them with the info.Some of the workers took me seriously and even wrote down things and even steered some customers to the info I gave them but others, including store manager says "nothing we can do, write and call our corporate center"
And anecdotal PLUS cited research will be what gets things changed

Urrrgh. Guess what? Petsmart no longer keeps ReptiSUN bulbs in-store. The only ones they keep on hand are ReptiGLO, which, as we all know, aren't half as good. :x Honestly. It's like they're trying to cause distrust and frustration among their customers.

There are many cases of beardies coming from petstores that have issues, as there are many cases where they don't have issues. It really depends on the specific store and how well informed their employees are about beardies.

our petsmart NEVER carried the repti suns (except the coils) but carries reptiGLO 10.0, 5.0 and 2.0. Will still order mine from petmountain.com or get from THAT PET PLACE in Lancaster.

I don't like Petsmart because they don't inform their customers well enough about the animal they're buying. I bought Ferdinand, my first baby, from them, and a month later he died, even though I'd done everything nearly perfectly. A month after his death, I did some investigating, and it turns out that the store had bought sick babies, among which 3 or 4 others had died after suffering seizures (like Ferdinand did) but decided to sell the rest of the clutch anyway rather than buy new animals or tell the customer about the risks.

Im am so totally in i got my beardie from petco and he was the only one that was somewhat alive. the next day i went back and ALL of the beardies were gone i asked what happened and the guy said that they got sick and died during the night i almost started bawling right there in the middle of the store.

but i should say that they havent had any beardies sence the staff change so we will have to see what happens and if they do get some and put them in the 5 gallon tank i swear im going to go off on somone

Our local Pets at Home in Eastbourne, UK just started selling Bearded Dragons and Geckos. Weirdly enough they have the bearded dragons in the tanks with a small floor area and a high vertical and the geckos in the tanks with loads of floor space and very little vertical.

The Beardies are all young adults and they have 3-4 per viv all crammed in. There is crap everywhere where they are obviously not being cleaned. The tubes look like normal office tubes, not UV at all, and are behind glass panes and at least 30 inches above the Beardies anyway so the UV must be 0 even if they are UV tubes. The tanks are so small there is no chance of thermo-regulation, they just have one digital thermometer stuck up showing a background of 36 degrees C across the whole tank. They have some vegetables in there but they are always old and wilted looking and they are feeding them what looks like a mixture of salad lettuces and spinach, so definitely not the right veg.

I'm going to go back on a day their "experts" (2 day course!) are working and have a chat and, if necessary, ask for their manager. If they won't make changes for the animals welfare alone, I'll appeal to their true heart, their wallet, and point out the extensive costs of treatment/replacement once they become sick and bad customer feedback for the ones they sell which have been mistreated.

I'm new to Beardies but I think I've done a damn sight better than a supposed pet specialist retailer. Going to give them this website and some nutrition charts!

please let me know, I have seen some awful things at petco specifically dead reptiles on display, dieing animals not being cared for even when it is brought to there attention, the wrong information being given out, employees that don't even know what they are let alone anything about them, employees that can't even get reptiles out with out hurting them. It's really sickening and something needs to be done I'm on board 110% and I can probably find a few more people to send letters in here localy.

not long ago i had to break down and go to petco ( was completely out of crickets :? ) anyways i shouldnt of done this but... i went by the reptile section only to see a baby bd drowning in its water bowl... this is now the 2nd time this has happened. i was so upset that... there was an associate that came over but it was too late... he felt so bad... and he actually told me that as soon as he found another job he was leaving because of the way the animals are treated.... felt so bad for the dead beardie... i cant imagine how horrible it would be to drown as a way of death... :evil: but as soon as you guys have a po definatly let us know...
