Oh My Gosh - time sure flies !

I've been so busy I haven't had time to do much of anything !
Just wanted to post a quick update on Bob - as he's now known for short.

He's 15" long - so accounting for his tail nip likely would be close to 16" and weighs around 230 g. He's too big for the scale right now so likely a bit more. I need to get a container to weigh him in. He sure grew fast !

We got him a new home - a 20x20x48 enclosure that has a tile floor (6x6 stone tiles so they can be more easily removed for spot cleaning), sliding glass doors with a ventilation screen under them and a wire mesh top. Not screen - just a wire mesh to keep him in, with very large spaces for his MVB light to get through. Also have a ReptiSun tube in the tank on the other side. He seems to like the added space. He was in a 55g aquarium that was tall and narrow. 48x13.

I don't have any recent pictures right now, but will try and get some. He's turning out to be a deep rust color. Not real orange, not real red, a brownish rusty color. Such a cute little bugger. Likes his greens and likes to hunt his crickets.

I am sooo happy that my son finally has a dragon that he can enjoy. We still miss Beardsley but Bob is great. I think he's one of the best pets we've had. Quiet and easy to care for.

We're due for new UVB bulbs already, so will get them ordered in the next week or so. End of July is 6 months for the ReptiSun and August is the 6 month mark for the MVB. But just had to have our well fixed so cash is a little tight at the moment.

Anyway, need to get some work done - so I'll browse around a bit and see what's been going on a little later.

:)

I don't think you need to replace an MVB every six months - I think it's a year. Maybe someone else can corroborate that. That might help out financially speaking. :)

Hello all :)

Wanted to post a few recent pics of Bob .... my has he grown !
He seems large for his age to me, but it doesn't really matter. I posted over in General out of curiosity, but haven't had anyone chime in yet.

He was 8" at the beginning of April when we got him - not taking into account his tail nip of about .25" so his true length was approx. 8.25 - 8.5". So, My guess was 2-3 months old. I don't have an exact hatch date.

So here it is at the beginning of September - putting him at 7-8 months old and he is 19" not accounting for his tail nip. True length approximately 21-22" if I factor in growth on that original .25 inch.

Weighed him today - and he's 525g. Here are some pics ....

smiling for the camera :)

All puffed out/pancaked soaking up some heat first thin in the morning. Or as they say, the camera adds 20lbs LOL!

This is when we first got him. Cute little bugger .... on the same basking rock. I think it may be time to start looking into a bigger one for him.

Wow! He looks great :D I don't think he's overly large for his age - I know of several dragons on this site that have reached 18-22 inches by 5-6 months. It has a lot to do with how you feed them, and it also depends on genetics. Some dragons just aren't going to get as big as others. He looks really happy and healthy, and his colors are gorgeous! And I love the pictures on his basking rock  definitely looks like it's time for a new one!

Thanks :). Yeah - he doesn't quit fit on that rock anymore - lol - but he still tries !
Wasn't sure if he was average - or if he was on the large size - most charts I found stopped at around 5-6 months .... Not that it really matters - he eats almost anything and is pooping about every other day now . I'm worried about brumation - I know it's normal but the thought of it is kinda scary - I panic over him easily lol !

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
