Nipped tail

So Luis has had a nipped tail since I got him and he also has been shedding in various places all over his body recently but I'd like some more thoughts on the progress of his tail.
It looks like shed but doesn't really progress anymore and the darker part is slightly thicker than the "normal" part. When I pinch the tip of the tail he does wiggle it so he does feel it but I'm a bit worried as it is thicker at the dark part....
Here is a pic from today and one from the beginning of may

Itvwas definitely damaged, but the color looks good. The darkness is normal. Snickers tail would be almost black at times, she was a dark orange dragon I think that contributed to it getting that dark. My others do it also but theirs never got as dark as hers.

The breeder told me that the tail touched heat lamp.
The color is like this for two weeks now and did not concern me. What does is that it is thicker (I trie to avoid the term swollen) where it's dark and I did not notice that before. It seems a little more sensitive when I touch it also....

This is the first pic of it back in August 2023, it has been "damaged" for quite a while

Yeah I can see where it looks thicker. But I think if the injury was going to cause an issue it would have done so before now. It is prudent to keep an eye on it though just in case.
Thank you, I will continue to take those progress pictures to compare them. If you see them every day it is often difficult to see the small changes.
He's eating fine, not loosing weight, no black beard or anything, so he's probably just having a particular hard shed, this time.

I agree with @xp29 , this is an old injury and if it had progressed it would have happened sooner.
Poor dragon tails, Foxy also has a bit of a bite on the tip of his tail, I suspect it happened when he was kept with his siblings. And I, too, worried about his tail and kept on eye for a long time.

Thanks. It doesn't seem to bother most of them even when there's quite a bit missing but I'd rather spare him the experience if I can.
It just looks strange and the shed is not progressing anymore for some odd reason....

I have the impression that tails shed less as they age. Foxy has already had her head completely shed three times and her tail has never shed.

Interesting. Luis has shed his mouth and nose three times this year. His tail last back in August '23. One hand or one upper arm sporadically but kind of random it seems.

I think that the difference in the thickness of the tail (in the photo I could not find any differences between the two photos) is not the progress of the injury, but its consequence in the form of a scar, as it happens in people, scar tissue will always look different.
but you see better, because the photo doesn't do it justice and you really should watch Luis' tail.

It is a little hard to see but it is pretty far off of the initial injury.

Now I understand what place on the tail you were talking about. In the old photo it is difficult to assess whether this was thinning or not.
Do you think it appeared recently?
If so, then it's worth watching. It's amazing how similar your situation is to mine. I wrote above that I was also worried about Foxy’s tail and the reason was also a thinning in the form of a ring, I watched him for six months until I was convinced that nothing was changing.

He has always had the two dents towards the very tip (the obvious one and a smaller just below) but the one I outlined is new. I'm sure because as you mentioned, I always have an eye on his tail because of the previous nips.

So Foxy had developed a thinning and it went away or did it stay and just not change anymore?

a poem by AHBD (THANK YOU SO MUCH! I LOVE IT!)

Sir Henry the dragon
Looking for his dragon girl
Ventures out in to the wide world
His hopes are up but as you can see
There is no dragon girl for Sir Henry
A light bulb goes off and he takes mom aside
Could you perchance get me a mail order bride ?

Hey! We’re the same age! That’s cool!
Hi there a little update we went from a 50 watt heat lamp to a 100 watt basking halogen heat lamp hahaha I saw some comments about it being so close so I made sure to put it a ruler away from her
Has anyone seen this before? Something in the corner of his mouth
Luna is thriving
