Need tank suggestions please!

Hi everyone, my beardies growing fast and I need suggestions on tanks for an adult beardie! He's currently in a 20gal. If anyone could post links to specific tanks they suggest for an adult that'd be great!

It would most likely be more cost efficient to buy a tank locally, such as at a petstore or from a private seller, as shipping a tank would be quite expensive.

Petco often times has $1 per gallon sells, where you can pick up a nice 40g breeder tank (recommended sized tank) for under 50 bucks with it all said and done.

Brand doesn't really matter so much, a tank is a tank is a tank. Just buy a normal 40g breeder. Don't go looking into buying those "kits" that have a bunch of stuff in the tanks and a bunch of lighting, those are junk.

Okay. I currently have one of those starter kits and it seems alright. Is a tank 36 x 18 x 18 big enough for an adult the rest of his life?

Yes that is the size of a 40g breeder tank. If you want, you can go bigger if you can find bigger (remember floor space is the most important, anything taller than 18-24 inches really isn't necessary... IMO) or better yet, you can build your own custom enclosure, such as this guide demonstrates: http://www.freewebs.com/crossfireenclosures/

Sweet, that's a good deal!

Make sure you clean any used tank you ever purchase just to make sure there are no lingering parasites that could infect your beardies.

I like to use steam, but a water and bleach solution will work too.

I mean like a machine that produces steam. Steam is extremely hot, hot enough to kill any parasites that might infect our beardies.

This isn't the one I personally use, but it will give you an idea of what im talking about.

Hey y'all,

I bought one of those starter kits when I got my beardie, Draco Parker, back in early February. I'm just finding out that I probably am using the wrong UVB lighting. It's the Zilla Desert Compact Coil Bulb. His basking bulb seems to be fine. It's 75 watts, and keeps the warm side of his Vivarium at 110 degrees F. Both lamps are sitting side-by-side. My current Vivarium is 20 in. long and 10 inches deep. I'm also looking into purchasing a whole new setup. I'm thinking of going with as large as I can get, and purchase the ReptiSUN 10.0 UVB linear fluorescent bulb. I also posted concerns on other threads about Draco's size. I'm guessing he's about 4 months old, but he's only about 9 inches from Snout to tip of tail. I've gotten feeding advice on the other thread as well.

This is a wonderful site. I wish I had discovered it sooner.

55g would be a good size

A 55g does not have enough width for a full grow to turn around.

In my starter kit it came with the tubing UVB and not the coils so I'm okay, but that seems a little small. Mine is about 15 inches now and and he's about 4-5 months old...
