Nathaniel, Cierra, Castiel, Freya, Grrl; RIP GABRIEL

We never expected to get another dragon, but our neighbours next door wanted to give away Cleo, as he was called. We'd babysat him before, he's such a sweetheart. We nicknamed him Velcro because when he snuggles he never wants to go back to his viv, he hangs on as if he's made out of velcro.

So here he is. Today was his first day with us. He ate 13 supers and ate some squash, not bad for the first day he was here. He's only in a 30 gallon tank, which will be ok for now. He's 18" long but weighs only 200g. We figure he's probably 2 yrs old. Our neighbours rescued him last fall, they found him and a female (which they named Puff) on Craig's list. They were in a 30 gallon dirty tank, with sand and a huge log that took up 1/2 the space in the tank. Leo was at the bottom, he was sooooo skinny. He's gained weight, but never got the attention he deserved. I took some pics today, but will take more tomorrow. I think he remembers our place as didn't get stressed as I expected. No stress marks at all. When we let him run around the living room, he noticed our girls and immediate black beard, so his hormones are working!

He had a bath this morning, had a big poop, no smell, so not worried about parasites.

Thanks Holly, that is a really great caption and yes, he's well loved, now if only he would start eating! He's my snuggle bug, when I wake him up in the am I snuggle him and he'll stay on my shoulder while I wake up the rest, after 1/2 hr I can finally get him under his light. Then another snuggle after his bath (they all get snuggles before and after baths) and that's all the time I have. On the weekends, if he's still awake after I've eaten supper and going to watch TV, he'll get a few hours of snuggles, along with Gabriel. I try to give them all long snuggles on the weekends, doesn't always workout, but I do my best.

So I've decided not to give Titan any more meds until I've done a fecal on him next week. If he still has parasites I'll give the panacur the vet wants to put him on, but not until I've checked it out. I want him to gain some weight 1st, he's soooo skinny now. So more hand feeding tomorrow am.

So I have a couple of pics of Titan,

sleeping on top of his hide, he looked so peaceful when I got home last night:


And a new way of eating (yes, I caught him eating the roaches in the dish!)


Otherwise I checked their lights and they're a bit low on UVB, so I'll be calling to order more on the credit I have at the pet shop for 5 lights, Leo's is the strongest, so he doesn't need a new one. Then when the new ones are used up, I think I'll be switching to the new Arcadia bulb; Diane, another moderator on this site, got one for Loki and she said it was great! So I'll be looking into that at the end of the year.

Didi is puffing out his beard, guess he's letting Leo know he's still the King; Titan just climbed up the "beehive", guess I'll have to find something similar or just get Didi something new when the time comes. Rubio just went into his hide :dontknow: ; Gabriel is under his light and Leo had to be pulled out of his hide this am, guess he thought if he hid I wouldn't find him to give him his meds this am :lol: And Lonzo is just basking, as usual. Now it's time for baths and food!

And it's good to see Titan being active, first time in a week. He just plunged into the roach bowl again, he's just so cute

Thanks for enjoying the pics, everyone, and welcome Mumtozeus. Glad you like his name, it was Brittani who suggested it. Isn't he just so silly & so funny :lol: And he ate all the roaches I put in his dish, not sure if he ate upside down again Gina, honestly, I've never seen any beardie eat upside down :lol: So he ate over 40 roaches of various sizes today, tomorrow am he's getting the rest of the crickets left that I bought him over a week ago, so hopefully he'll like them. I'm telling my roach babies to grow, grow, grow, I'm going to need tons, time to get some small supers for him, too, if his appetite is anything like it was before the baytril, boy, I'm in trouble! I'm so glad he's eating, though, he sure needs to grow more, he has to be about 9 mo old, and so small for his age. Darned pet shop Oh well, I did the same for Gabriel last year, he was almost as skinny, just not as short in length, so I'm sure I can catch him up soon. He still loves to sit on my shoulder in the morning, awwww, he's a great snuggler. I need more shoulders :lol:

Had to give Gabriel some snuggling this am, too, he's been in his tank for the last two days, so tomorrow he gets outside time after his bath. Lonzo will just have to put up with being in his tank for one day. Leo doesn't mind, but Gabriel gets down in the dumps. At least he'll get lots of snuggles this weekend, as always. I think Gabriel would live on my shoulder if he could, so would Titan :lol:

So Titan is now back to being an Eating Machine, he's right now eating all the crickets I have left, his hunting skills are back :lol: His belly is getting lots bigger, too. He'll still get some roaches while I'm gone, but it's good to see him eating crickets again. I'll be getting more tomorrow again. Yep, Liz, he's the official "eating me out of house and home" beardie! :lol:
