We never expected to get another dragon, but our neighbours next door wanted to give away Cleo, as he was called. We'd babysat him before, he's such a sweetheart. We nicknamed him Velcro because when he snuggles he never wants to go back to his viv, he hangs on as if he's made out of velcro.

So here he is. Today was his first day with us. He ate 13 supers and ate some squash, not bad for the first day he was here. He's only in a 30 gallon tank, which will be ok for now. He's 18" long but weighs only 200g. We figure he's probably 2 yrs old. Our neighbours rescued him last fall, they found him and a female (which they named Puff) on Craig's list. They were in a 30 gallon dirty tank, with sand and a huge log that took up 1/2 the space in the tank. Leo was at the bottom, he was sooooo skinny. He's gained weight, but never got the attention he deserved. I took some pics today, but will take more tomorrow. I think he remembers our place as didn't get stressed as I expected. No stress marks at all. When we let him run around the living room, he noticed our girls and immediate black beard, so his hormones are working!

He had a bath this morning, had a big poop, no smell, so not worried about parasites.

So here are a few pics, he's a yellow & dark gray, light gray colour.

Under the communal power sun in the living room:

Discovering there are girls in those tanks up above, he has a great black beard for such a skinny boy:

On the couch, he's got a pretty diamond pattern on his back:

Hope you enjoy
Deb and my six dragons :D      :( :love5:

That's how I feel, too, but it turns out that I won't be able to get to the pet shop tomorrow after all, my mom and I are taking my sis out for lunch, so it will have to wait until Mon am, have to get more crickets for my golden gecko, that's all he eats. Can't wait until Thurs when I get my T4 & all that info to do my income tax. Then I have to make arrng to repay the overpayment on my payroll since last May! Then after I've done that repayment I have to redo my taxes as I'll actually have a lower income for last year! Boy this year is turning out to be really complicated.

Well I finally did find out what's wrong with my ankle, as I should have this much pain after almost 2 mo. Turns out I've pulled the ligaments on the front of my foot and that's what's causing me pain; so cold pack for 6 min, hot pack for 6 min then anti-inflammatory cream, 3x/day, then see my doc again next Friday to see if it's making a difference. I'm supposed to work 6 hrs on Monday, can do the treatment 2x before work and 1x after as it's a pain to do this at work. Then I have another meeting to see how I managed on Monday, will try to continue the 6 hours, but may be too hard, may have to go back to 4 hours, or take a bit more time off, will see what happens at work on Monday. Wish me luck!

Thanks Liz, I'm off to do my 2nd cold/hot/cream & watch a movie. I've already put my boys to bed and said hello to Bunny, who doesn't seem to want to be out of her tank lately, so am leaving her until later when I'll feed her some Repashy. I gave her crickets yesterday as her weekend treat & then found the little bums climbing the back of her tank and staying up there, so I pulled them out while she was sleeping and stuffed all the open spots with paper towels, so I'm hoping she'll find them and get another treat. She and Rocco are great hunters, wish my beardies were, too, but they prefer to be hand fed   Not spoiled, oh no, not my boys

Nope, not spoiled at all.
Jace won't go out of his way for a dubia. If it goes near him, great! If it stays in the far corner, not so much. So I'll leave him in there for about ten minutes then I'll start pushing the dubia around with tweezers so that they go past him. Lance could care less. He's all over the bun hunting them down.

Oh to have hunters again! So the sad news is I can't afford the baby at the pet shop at all. I have a vet visit coming up with Leo, have to pay back the overpayment to work and have already had to cancel my personal training. There just isn't enough $ to get this little guy. So unless they're willing to give him to me with a free tank and light (I will let them know that I'm available for that at least) then he's welcome to be on my dining room table. I will talk to the owners to let them know that. I just wish I had the $, but I have to realize that I don't. I'll see him tomorrow when I go get crickets...it's such a sad decision, but I have to be honest with myself. This year is not going to be a good one financially, but at least I'm able to keep my boys that I already have, so that's good. Now I"m off to get some early shopping done. My sis and I are heading out to my mom's so we can all go out and celebrate my sister's birthday, which was last Sunday. We have alot to get caught up on!

Have a good day everyone!

And Liz, I'm glad Lance is a good hunter, it's always good to have one in the family

I am so glad you have hunters again Deb! Sorry you won't be able to bring the pet shop baby home, but you know what you can and can't do so I know you made the best decision for you.

I hope you have fun with your mom and sister today! Your sister has the same birthday as Riley!

If the petshop baby isn't meant to be, then he/she isn't meant to be. Funds are tight all around and I honestly don't know how you do it with 5dragons and 2 geckos! I'm at my limit and had to nearly beg for my Mylo. May I suggest playing the Lotto more!? I am!

I play the Lotto monthly with a group, but we never win anything but a bit of $ for more tickets. I had a long haggle with the pet shop manager (who's in charge of the reptile area) and they're down to $140 for little guy, a free 30 gallon tank with top, a slightly used power sun for $70 including the dome...so I told then I'd tell them mid March if I could take him or not...he'd need a new light soon and then a bigger tank, but he's small, so that would still be ok, I think, I'm so confused as I just wanted to put him in my coat today and run out of the store...so more thinking and checking my budget.

Holly, my boys don't cost me much, they eat supers that aren't expensive every 2nd day, collard greens are cheap at Wallmart (they're the only greens they'll eat) and then squash, which lasts ages & isn't expensive either, so it's only when they need lights that I have to put out $, but I have a credit for the last batch of 160W power suns that went bad, so will be ok for the next year. Then I"m thinking of switching to Mega Ray, as they're supposed to be better UVB than power suns. Decisions, decisions  Always something.

I had a long talk with my son last night, about the new baby, his fiancee, how he feels about the fact that my family's not very keen on him being a daddy, etc...so it was good to get alot of stuff aired out. I'm starting to get really happy about being a grandma, hopefully all goes well with the baby. Tara's 4 months now and doing well, they're getting their new place organized. Eric switched jobs, he's in concrete construction, lots of work, higher wage, alot of overtime and still has a side job on Saturdays. So he's making more $ & he'll be getting benefits too, when he's been there for 3mo, so all is good in that department. My son's a very hard worker, and i"m hoping my family will turn around once the baby's born. I'm also hoping that Tara will make sure everyone sees the new baby, especially my parents...their first great-grandchild. My mom bought 2 onesies for the new baby while they were in Hawaii, so cute...so I'll drop them off next weekend, was too tired today.

Had a great time with my mom, dad, sis and me going out for lunch, then we went to a cafe for coffee and talked up a storm. I love them all, it was great to get together, just the 4 of us, and my sis felt very birthdayed!

I'll have more news of the little guy in a couple of weeks.

Is the little beardie a morph of some kind?
That's not a bad deal that the manager gave you. Granted you'll still need decor and substrate, but still not bad.
Glad your family stuff is going well. Always good to hear.

I already have substrate, I use newspaper & have for over 5 years, the dragons love it as they can shed it if they get excited or want to dig. I get the paper free in my building, you should see what I have in stock! Yes, the decor, but that can wait, I have a concrete block I can cover for him to use for basking, that will have to do for now until I can get him a proper sized tank. Oh well, I have some figuring to do before I can commit, so I'll see how it goes in the next two weeks! At least once I get him home I have dubia to give him, so that won't be an expense. He's eating crickets right now, so will see how that goes. If he likes them I have TONS to give him.

I know, I'll have more news on the beardie front by the end of the week. As it is I've had to give up personal training, because of my ankle and I now have to tell my manager that I have to be home this week to do these treatments, going to work is just making it worse. So have to keep track of the time, she's in at 12:00 and I"m supposed to leave at 12:30, then have to call Health Services. HOpefully these treatments do the trick and I'm back to work next week. I see my doc again at 11:30 on Friday, will keep you all advised. This ankle thing is very discouraging, it's taking forever to get going.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
