I have had pretty much the same beetles going sense the end of June with only 3 to 4 have died so far an I just replace them with new ones. I still have baby worms hatching so I'm thinking that they may continue to breed the entire time they are in beetle stage. This is the way it appears to me. :dontknow:

As far as the supers being addictive to your beardie this is somewhat true. If I allowed Ms. Tiggs to have her way she would eat nothing but supers. I don't feel that she gets a balanced diet this way so I insist that they eat atleast 2 to 3 different types of feeders. Offering the supers only after she has eaten some of the other bugs. She has learned that if she wants her supers she has to eat her salad and the other bugs up first.

I had to cut PVT Blaze off of the supers for awhile because he had gotten to where that was all he wanted. Now he is back to eating all of his feeders again. But if I were to offer the supers first he won't eat the other bugs.

you;ve probably answered this question somewhere in the thread but i've been trying to get my boxes setup for when i get my worms soon. in the divided snap craft boxes do you have holes in the lid above each seperate box? also we kind of like living a little bit more on the cold side i was thinking about putting everything into a big 20 gal tote and heating it with a lightbuld or would that be not enough air? i can't wait until i get my worms and see how i can manage to do this on top of everything else i do but i love to keep busy.

this is a list of bedding that i gathered so far Wheat bran, chicken egg layer mash, brewer’s yeast (makes them grow faster), oatmeal, wheat germ, corn grits, oat bran, powered milk of course some of these things are added in and not to be use on it's own like powered milk. if there is anything i missed please let me know. what about cream of wheat?

True the brewer's yeast does make them grow faster, but I've read that this doesn't allow the worm to be as nutritious as it would if you let it grow naturally. You can use the corn meal or chicken mash these will safely enhance the growth without affecting its nutrition.

I don't have anything. I get maybe 2-3 worms, that I can see, and they ALWAYS die off before they are big enough to even feed off. I even got a new container and started all over again, and still nothing. Im not sure what the problem is, I did the mash, and wheat germ and oats, and feeding the carrots and all that.

Okay I changed substrate in the bin with the larger supers this morning and WOW! :shock:
I have well over 1000 supers maybe even 2000 that a feedable size that I started in July,
plus 3 bins of babies.
Yes! Know more buying supers. :mrgreen:

I am glad someone is having success! A helpful note to everyone else, dont just forget about them and throw them in a dark room and never feed them or give them moisture! I got so busy with other feeders that I just totally forgot about them!

what do you do with all the beetles after they are done reproducing? how long do they live?

I've only had about 1/2 a dozen to 10 beetles die sense July. I keep my beetles breeding until they die. Then I replace them with new ones. I have 9 beardies so I'm just going to keep breeding them. If I end up with to many that's okay I have friends with beardies that wouldn't mine some free feeders.
(Soon we will have enough for Tatsu's Army :laughing6: )

I was using one of those long and wide but not deep shoe boxes. Kept a few thousand easy in it. I noticed when I cramped them that dead bodies would turn up on top.
