I'm so excited! It looks so nice!!!

Is this salt dough you're using? Do you need a base for it, like styrofoam and then cover it with whatever it is you're using or is it fine on it's own?

It's salt dough alright :wink: The foam clay is far too sticky to cut excess material from around the bottom. The "mold" for this is actually a little hermit crab hide. I thought Mylo would use it but he looked too big for it the day I brought him home! :lol: Salt dough is crazy soft. It's hard to get it to stand alone. I even had to patch the one side because of a small tare due to the weight of the clay stretching over the hide. I actually got very lucky that it maintained enough stability :wink:

LOL! :lol: Thank you! The seal is a "webkinz! :shock: " Mylo had a snowflake covered beanie baby bear, and I think the size scared him a bit. In the mean time, Annie (my 7 year old) wanted Mylo's little bear very much. She was a little jealous I asked her what Mylo would have if she took the bear. She ran into her room grabbed the seal and said "It's the perfect size for Mylo!" She was right. So Annie got a bear and Mylo got a seal and now they're both happy! :lol:

LOL! :lol: Nope! It'd be done by now if I hadn't decided to start over. It's a very large piece tho and I want it to be right. Oh, well. It's just a week. I really hope it comes off of the mold in one piece! :shock: This is the first time I've tried a mold!

Been reading up on the thread aww Annie.
I do have some pics on the pic thread if you're interested, if you hadn't
seen them yet, Holly. Liz has seen them already and so has Beardie Parents.
I'm going to attempt to make a beardie tent for Vash since he's going back
into hibernation...came early this year...he didn't want to eat and sure didn't
wanna stay up for 10 mins in the bath. Salt dough molding, this should be fun.
Thanks for the idea...you've been making things for Mylo and I wanted to try
since old man will have the lights on anyway but I will still want something to cover his eyes.

-Well, Mylo turned 8 months old on the 9th. He's 64.5 grams as of tonight and is happily running all over mom! I'll try to get some photo's tomorrow night, if I can pry his coco fiber loving butt out of his hide! :lol:

-Well, no photo's. Mylo seems to really be enjoying his outside time. Crawls on mama, climbs up couch. Walks on mama'a computer, curls up under mama's chin. He's still a happy, calm, lil' guy. I just need batteries for my camera. Again... :roll:

I'm buying myself a stuffed toy! :shock: :lol: So, I've sold off a lot of things I thought useless and taken the 'no purpose, no point' approach. All the money from my sales went to miscellaneous expenses and Annie's school supplies. I was able to afford a huge new wardrobe with the sale money alone! But...the house is now pretty empty! :lol:
I wanted one useless thing. Just one thing for me. I can't remember the last time I bought something just because I liked it.
I LOVE the art of Amigurumi. It's where stuffed toys, usually animals, are made out of yarn. I have an Amigurumi Bull Dog from when I was just toddling. He's put away safely now but he still makes me smile when I open the wooden chest. :mrgreen:
I stumbled across a Amigurumi Etsy shop by chance and was blown away by the detail! I've ordered a Leopard Gecko to resemble Mylo! She's making a few adjustments. No wire, no pipe cleaners, and a mouth like the Axolotl she makes. I also wanted something a bit bigger.

Glad Mylo is doing so well and enjoying his mommy time. I'm so wondering what he'll weigh when he's full grown
