My new born babies wont eat. i offered small wax worms and roachs. I also offer hem greens. this is my fist clutch so im not sure when they should eat... its been more then a few days
Someone much more qualified to help you here should chime in soon. Until than just to ease your mind a little I thought I'd respond and let you know that I have read they may not eat for a few days after hatching. Supposedly they get nutrition from the egg sac and this can tide them over for the first few days.
Congrats on your little ones btw, that must be pretty exciting
I think it may be a few days before they fully absorb their yoke sacks , as newly hatched reptiles have some left over yoke inside their bodies and sometime attached to them that provides food for them for a little while after hatching, once they have consumed / absorbed it completely they'll be ready to eat suitable sized live insects.
I'd offer :
-- very small gut loaded /dusted crickets or roaches
-- BSF maggots
-- small silkworms
at least three times per day as many as they will eat in a 20minute sitting.
You can offer grated carrot, grated sweet potato, finely cut greens such as buk choi daily, but it is much more important to get them eating LOTS of bugs as they need the insect proteins MUCH MORE than they need greens and veg at such a young age.
They should start eating any day. Don't use waxworms, they are very fatty and you usually can't get baby waxworms in bulk....the ones you have are probably from the store unless you raised your own, and they're too big. Hatchlings are very delicate....eating one insect that is too big can cause impaction and death. Can you put up a pic of the roaches you're using as well as the babies in the set up ?
Keep a small bowl of chopped greens like turnip, mustard, collard. Don't bother with anything else until they're a bit older.
