Thor's Mom

Awh, I was just able to catch up with this thread. Don’t worry about the glass, it will likely be just fine. I had this happen with Thor (RIP) when she was so ill and I had to force feed her. She bit the tip off the glass eyedropper and it shattered into several small pieces, which we could see on x-ray. It took a little while, probably about 2 weeks, but it all passed through without incident. I have had similar problems with plastic syringes, having little pieces break off when they bite the tip. Never had any problems having them pass. Wonderful job with her, she looks great!

Dolcedragon, I'm so excited about your new rescue. She is such a beautiful dragon! Sorry to hear about the glass and I'm hoping for the best for you both. "Stupidhead" lol....I love the name you gave that guy! :D What a jerk he is, huh? I'd like to have a few words with him.

LOL about the degradation from poop inspection. I have daily degradation sessions even when my little ones are all healthy...I don't want to take my chances and miss something haha.

Anyway, good luck and keep us posted! :blob5: :blob8:

Thank you Thor's Mom; it makes me feel better I'm not the only one. You say it took a couple of weeks? That's what I was wondering about... the vet said I should have seen it a day or two ago and I was starting to get worried, but I'm thinking with her system being all out of whack right now anyway it may be a couple weeks. Today is 7 days since glass swallow and no glass. :(

Thanks ashesc212, I think she's quite beautiful myself! I wish she would shed already! Between touching her and my other two the difference is unreal- her skin feels so tough and damaged. The vet said it may never fully recover from the burns underneath but I'm hoping.

Vet says she has poor muscle build and brittle bones in her arms from early MBD and malnutrition. Now that she is more active you can see she walks a bit funny and acts like it pains her to put her head or arms down all the way. She looks quite silly, sleeping with her head in the air. I've tried to make her comfortable, rolling up a washcloth into a "pillow" for her. It bothers me though. Do some dragons just do that or do you think she really is in pain? Anybody?

Ok I may have pictured this thread to death but I love her so much. :love5: :love5: Our nightly ritual is to throw them on the couch at bedtime and they cuddle up and go to sleep, then I burrito them and put them back in their respective vivs. You can see it did not take long for Stasia to join in on this tradition.
Top to bottom: Daliz, Harlee, Stasia- my babies. <3

That has got to be the sweetest pic of beardies I'd ever seen! :love10:

I hope you'll be able to see some signs of the pipet soon.

Awwwwwww....

As far as resting their heads... Fargo typically will sleep with his head on his teddybears leg or something. Have you given her a stuffed animal yet? Give her one that she can manipulate and you might find that is her sleeping buddy.

This could be a good thing. Maybe it already came out w/o causing any damage and you just missed it? Best of luck and keep us posted.

Hi Again,

Yeah, don’t be too surprised if you miss it. I found exactly one out of the several fragments that Thor had in her. Trust me when I say it was not for lack of trying to find them. I dissected every poo with tweezers and still only managed to find the one little piece. Thor did pass it all though, because we confirmed it with x-ray. Don’t worry too much as long as she is doing ok you should be fine.

The beginin story broke my heart. How could any one be so neglectful to an animal. My friends always laugh at me when I talk to my beardy.

It is such a great thing what you are doing for her. Be proud of how far she has come. Your a good mommy. :D

Hi guys,
My baby is looking fantastic! :D

Her skin still feels terrible but I'm hoping for a good shed.
The other two have been little nuisances, bobbing whenever they sense she is around. They are in different rooms, but hang out on my shoulder when I'm cleaning, and get some free roaming time every now and then so I'm worried Stasia will sense them, feel intimidated, and stop eating.
Not that she's eating much anyway. None of them are. I've tried all sorts of different foods. Daliz and Harlee always do this around this time of year; they are still brumating off and on and just don't eat as much. I don't know about Stasia's brumating habits though and she is worrying me.
First experience with silkworms by the way. Are you supposed to let them grow for a few weeks before feeding them, because they are awfully small. And they stink.
She doopyed for me in her viv all by herself instead of in the bath like she usually does. I think that's a good thing. But it's quite runny, and no, still no glass. :(
She is much more active now though and I've discovered she is an aggressive burrower. The other night she decided to go to sleep on me and started scratching a little with her front claws and digging her nose down into me. I thought, aww... so sweet. Then she decided her "bed" wasn't comfy enough and started really digging with all four legs and wiggling herself around determined to make herself the perfect hide. I thought, Ow Dragon are you diggin to China?? but didn't stop her because she was soo cute and looked so happy once she went to sleep. :love5: :love5:

Oh dolce she is looking so much better.
Holding herself up proud. What a good girl.
And pooping on her own outside the bath is a great sign.

Come on and shed little one!

Wow she looks wonderful.A far cry from the frail one you brought home :D I have to say I am thinking that glass must have passed and you just missed it.While I am sure you are a fantastic poop inspector its quite easy for small clear piece of glass to be missed. Thanks for all of the updates :D

Today she went in the bath and poop came out but no urate. I lifted her up and the urate was hanging out of her vent, just stuck there. I think the glass must be there clogging her cloaca right? So I pulled a bit and got most of the hanging piece off then she just slucked the rest up in there! Oh dear, I am scared about tomorrows bath. Maybe it was the glass and it hurt her so she stopped going or maybe she was just being weird and stopped midway for no reason. I don't know!!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
