Mvb bulb?

Can someone tell me how to set mercury vapor bulbs up so that it doesnt hurt beardies? Im gonna get one possibly in november, probably december, and need the information BEFORE i get one.

Make sure it's at least 12 inches from the basking spot. The higher the wattage, the farther you want it. Whatever brand you buy, they should have a guideline to the recommended distance to keep it. Don't let your beardie get close to it cause they get hot and will burn him/her. Rule of thumb for MVB is use calcium WITHOUT D3. Other than that, most of what applies to normal bulbs will apply to MVB like don't bump or shake it, make sure you are using a ceramic fixture with enough ventilation, stuff like that. Me personally, i'm using a Zoo Med Powersun 100watt with a deep dome and Harley loves it.

Yes, it's a mercury vapor bulb. It has UVA, UVB and heat.

I have a 160 watt powersun and love it. I went with the MVB because I read their UVA/UVB is closer to the sun's than the florescent tube's. I wouldn't. I ordered one of those Mega Rays back in August and I still haven't gotten it. All I've gotten have been excuses and ignored when I ask what is going on. Others have had lots of problems as well. Here is a link to it. http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=243950 Also the problem with MegaRay which T-rex mvb also had since they were both made by Westron was the UVB was off so it was allowing harmful UVB to get through. Regardless their customer service has been horrible so I wont even deal with them anymore and I try and warn others too so they don't go through what I am still going through as I wait for Paypals decision on this case. Anyways, read the recent posts and you will see what is going on overall.
