Mercury Vapor bulbs?

I was just wondering, would a 160 watt mercury vapor bulb provide enough heat and UVB 24 inches away from a basking spot?

With a MVB they will still absorb some of the UVB at that distance I believe.
But can I ask what is the size/measurements of the enclosure?
With a 160watt I'd be most concerned with the heat being to much.

As long as your not in a really hot climate the 160watt should work fine. However your original question....

I think I now understand your question regarding the 24 inches. Do you mean because you enclosure is 24 inches high? With the MVB's the basking spot should be 12 to 18 inches from the bulb.

Yes raise the basking spot to within the 12" and you should be just fine. Just keep an eye on those temps though, if overheated a dragon can dehydrate pretty quickly.

not with 160 watt MVB. You need a minimum of 18" with 160 watt MVB and 12" with a 100watt MVB

I agree I would start at 18 inches away first. Then check temps you can go from there if it needs some adjusting to achieve proper temps.

I personally would suggest an infrared temp gun for measuring temps when using the MVB's as you can get an accurate temp reading much faster. The infrared temp gun has made my life much easier with 8 MVB's in the house. I live in California so Summer's I watch my temps very closely or I could easily fry my beardies. The slightest change in houses ambient temps will highly affect encloser temps.
