megaray humming

my fairly new megaray 160 sb has started humming/whirring. is that anything to worry about?

Hi i just had a listen to my megaray and its not humming if it was me i think i would be sending it back because that sounds faulty i would be worried that it might go bang so i would take it out.

thanks for your reply. it started humming earlier in the week after i bumped the fixture very lightly. it hummed the rest of the day and then went off with the timer at 9 pm. it came back on with the timer at 8 am the next morning and hasn't made a sound since. i think i'll just keep a close eye/ear on it and see if it happens again. every time i have to send one back under warranty, it costs me $14 in UPS charges. (but if it starts humming again, i will surely replace it. not risking hurting Syd) Diane

Ithink i know what you are talking about now i thought you ment it was humming since you had bought it.I had the same problem when i knocked my CHE (before i bought my my megaray) and this is what i think.I think when you knock a bulb with a current running through it will hum which is a slight vibration and wont stop because the current of electricity feeds it energy.When you turn the light bulb off it has nothing to feed it so the vibration or hum dies down and stops.Well that is what i think but i am no scientist lol.I think it will be fine but if you are worried just take it out
