+ RAT+s are RECORDED
Not considered reliable numbers because in NSW RAT-s are not being mandated to be reported and access to PCR tests is restricted ONLY to those ordered to be PCR tested and those who are symptomatic.
The case numbers in are under-reporting actual case numbers to a significant degree , perhaps low by 2x fold or more.
Health experts are calling for a mandate for all RAT test results ( negative or positive ) to be reported and for free access to RATs for ALL Australians ON DEMAND.

Public health measures

To slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community and reduce the rate of transmission, the following public health measures are in place across the NT:

Masks must be worn in high-risk settings including hospitals, GP clinics, remote health clinics, renal facilities, aged care facilities, family violence shelters, sobering up shelters, homeless shelters, corrections facilities and disability facilities. Disability support workers need to wear a mask when undertaking home-services.
Masks must also be worn in airports and on flights, in line with federal requirements.
It is highly recommended that all people aged 12 years and over wear a mask when physical distancing cannot be applied
The Territory Vaccine Pass.

COVID-19 vaccination

It’s important everyone aged 16 years and over has their booster dose. Three doses of the vaccine significantly reduces your risk of getting really sick from COVID-19 and will help to protect you against any future strains of the virus.

You can have your booster, three months after your second dose. If you have had COVID-19, you can get vaccinated as soon as you have recovered.

Protect your children against COVID-19 by getting them vaccinated. All children aged five years and over should get the COVID-19 vaccine.

The COVID-19 vaccine is available at NT Health Vaccination Centres, participating GP clinics, respiratory clinics and Aboriginal health clinics.

Book online or call the COVID-19 Hotline on 1800 490 484.

COVID-19 testing

Everyone should get tested for COVID-19 if showing symptoms. A number of NT Rapid Antigen Testing and Distribution Points have been established.

To reduce the risk of COVID-19 spreading in our communities, it is important for everyone to follow all health directions:

If you have symptoms, stay away from others and get tested for COVID-19
Wash your hands with soap and water and use hand sanitiser regularly
Do not go to work if you feel sick
Maintain a physical distance of 1.5 metres where possible.

20/3/2022
NSW Health is today reporting the deaths of four people with COVID-19, two women and two men.

One person was aged in their 60s,
one person was aged in their 70s,
one person was aged in their 80s
and one person was aged in their 90s.

Of the four people,
two people had received three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine,
one person had received two doses
and one person was not vaccinated. Older age is a significant risk factor for serious illness and death for COVID-19, particularly when combined with significant underlying health conditions.

Two people were from southern Sydney,
one person was from south western Sydney
and one person was from the Central Coast.

NSW Health expresses its sincere condolences to their loved ones.

This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in NSW since the beginning of the pandemic to 2,023.

There are currently 1,124 COVID-19 cases admitted to hospital, including 33 people in intensive care, 15 of whom require ventilation.

There were 16,813 positive test results notified in the 24 hours to 4pm yesterday – including 9,818 positive rapid antigen tests (RATs) and 6,995 positive PCR tests. The 6,995 positive PCR results were returned from a total of 52,597 PCR tests.

There has now been a total of 554,970 positive RATs recorded since reporting began on 13 January 2022.

Following further investigation, 40 COVID-19 cases detected by PCR tests have been excluded and 767 cases previously reported as RAT-positive have been confirmed as PCR-positive cases, bringing the total number of cases detected by PCR tests in NSW since the beginning of the pandemic to 1,032,189.

Across NSW, more than 95 per cent of people aged 16 and over have received a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, and 94.5 per cent have received two doses to Saturday 19 March 2022.
Of children aged 12 to 15, 83.5 per cent have received a first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, and 79.3 per cent have received two doses.
Of children aged 5 to 11, 48.9 per cent have received a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
Of people aged 16 plus, 58.4 per cent have now received a third dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

This represents 62.3 per cent of the eligible population that received their second dose more than three months ago.

NSW Health is today reporting the deaths of four people with COVID-19 – one child, two women and one man.

Tragically, a previously well two-year-old child from Sydney died at The Children's Hospital at Westmead due to COVID-19 infection.

Of the three adults who died with COVID-19,
one was aged in their 70s,
one was in their 80s,
and one was in their 90s.

The three adults had all received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. Older age is a significant risk factor for serious illness and death for COVID-19, particularly when combined with significant underlying health conditions.

One of the adults was from southern Sydney,
one was from south eastern Sydney
and one was from Sydney's Inner West.

This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in NSW since the beginning of the pandemic to 2,027.

There are currently 1,163 COVID-19 cases admitted to hospital, including 34 people in intensive care, 15 of whom require ventilation.

There were 14,970 positive test results notified in the 24 hours to 4pm yesterday – including 9,754 positive rapid antigen tests (RATs) and 5,216 positive PCR tests. The 5,216 positive PCR results were returned from a total of 33,848 PCR tests.

There has now been a total of 564,187 positive RATs recorded since reporting began on 13 January 2022.

Following further investigation, 30 COVID-19 cases detected by PCR tests have been excluded and 524 cases previously reported as RAT-positive have been confirmed as PCR-positive cases, bringing the total number of cases detected by PCR tests in NSW since the beginning of the pandemic to 1,037,899.

It is highly recommended that all people aged 12 years and over wear a mask when physical distancing cannot be applied.

NSW Health is today reporting the deaths of four people with COVID-19 – two women and two men.

Two people were aged in their 70s and two people were aged in their 90s. Older age is a significant risk factor for serious illness and death for COVID-19, particularly when combined with significant underlying health conditions.

Two people had received three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, one person had received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, and one person was unvaccinated.

One person was from western Sydney, one person was from southern Sydney, one person was from the Mid North Coast, and one person was from Orange.

NSW Health expresses its sincere condolences to their loved ones.

This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in NSW since the beginning of the pandemic to 2,031.

Queensland could be on cusp of next COVID wave: Health Minister , with the state topping 10,000 cases on Wednesday.
The state recorded seven deaths and 10,476 cases on Wednesday, a jump of more than 1500 cases from the 8886 recorded on Tuesday.

COVID-19 case numbers have been slowly but steadily rising for more than a week after the state government lifted mandatory mask wearing in many public settings at the beginning of the month.

Queensland Health Minister Yvette D'Ath admitted the numbers could be the start of a fresh wave of cases, but said authorities had always predicted more cases heading into winter, regardless of what measures were in place.

What was worrying, she said, was the impact on health staff, with more than 1600 in isolation due to having COVID-19 or being a close contact of a case.
"We aren't seeing an increase in people in ICU, which is great news … however what we have seen over the past few days is an increase in health workers having to be isolated again," Ms D'Ath said.
"That does concern me because even though we're not seeing more COVID patients, we have less staff to manage the patients we have got."

There were 252 people in hospitals with COVID-19 on Wednesday - the same as the day before and slightly more than on Monday - although the number of people in ICUs dropped from nine to seven.

Ms D'Ath also took aim at the LNP over criticism of the health system's performance, accusing the opposition of cherry-picking data during the pandemic.
Opposition Leader David Crisafulli has pointed to documents obtained under Right to Information laws that revealed concerning incidents recently.

In one example, a wheelchair-bound patient was left on a hospital ramp for three hours before receiving treatment; another person waited more than 10 hours for an ambulance.

"This is further evidence of a broken system that the state government can no longer ignore," Mr Crisafulli said.

"It blows the whistle on a culture where patients are waiting for hours to be seen ... where ambos are so stressed and so stretched they ... have had to use their own vehicle."

But Ms D'Ath insisted hospital performance was no worse than it had been for the past two years.

However, she did admit that staff were stretched, pointing out that the extra pressure of a global pandemic was the major cause.

"I am very concerned with how exhausted our health workers are, and that's why our hospital and health workers are working on a leave policy to deal with the fatigue of our health workers," Ms D'Ath said.

She added that there was a shortage of health workers across Australia because for the past two years, the states were unable to bolster their workforce using staff from overseas.

Ms D'Ath also countered suggestions that her announcement of more beds for Brisbane's QEII hospital was a rehash of an earlier announcement.

Mr Crisafulli held his media conference at the hospital on Wednesday morning, after which the government put out a release announcing a $12 million investment in 26 new beds at the hospital.

The LNP later pointed out that the funding and beds were announced as part of a $100 million hospital package in May last year.

But Ms D'Ath said she was not announcing the beds or funding but the fact that the beds would open in June this year.

Queensland's vaccination rate stands at 91.53 per cent double-dosed, however the third-dose rate is much lower, with only about half the eligible people having received it.

The ACT Government is making some changes to the way rapid antigen tests (RATs) are distributed to ACT school communities for the remainder of Term 1.

RATs will continue to be available through schools but will be provided to staff and students on an as-needed basis - or in response to increased cases reported in a school.

Early childhood staff will also have continued access to RATs, under the same distribution arrangements.

For the first 8 weeks of Term 1, all school staff and students were given two free RATs per week.

This change will ensure school communities continue to have access to government-funded RATs, which is one of the measures that has supported a safe return to on-campus learning at ACT schools in 2022.

Each school will have processes in place to ensure families, teachers and volunteers have RATs readily accessible on request - should they need them.

Schools will communicate directly with families about how they can access RATs for the remainder of the term.
