Well I started reading this thread from the beginning before going to work this morning, came home just after lunch as my afternoon call had cancelled and read the rest, have watched all the videos and seen all the pics.

WOW!!! What an amazing story, Jason you are an amazing person and your little beardie friend is just awesome.

I have cussed, shed a tear or two, ooohed and aaahed throughout this is amazing story and my heart well....

Good luck to you both, and I will be keeping up with this amazing story

he really is living the good life. it's my only project right now beside finding a full-time job. whenever i get a good chunk of money i almost immediately buy him something. i just cant help myself :dontknow: .
he does shoot some pretty adorable faces my way from time to time. i've been lucky enough to catch a good deal of them on camera.

*p.s. these pics arent like my other ones: they can be greatly enlarged without pixilating. if you move them to paint you can see alot more detail, i thought they would post much larger than this :| .

WOW!!! His color has developed so much. He's a cutie and has some color that I've never seen on him before in the other pics...Sorry I've gotten used to him/he not her/she.
We spoil Kaira...it's so hard not to spoil them. Especially on her silkies, which she loves. Hopefully breeding them will pay off...she's worth it though . I've read how it all started, your situation at the time and how you've had to get things over a period of time. BUT YOU STILL GOT EVERYTHING! And put him before yourself. That's amazing.
I agree about getting an island. I see so many neglected beardies at the pet store (I posted the most recent one on Kaira's intro.)...it was horrible. We wanted to take him home and his little buddy so bad. We would have taken them home, but since we got Kaira, I don't know that I could risk her health if something else was wrong with the babies we saw. I feel terrible for not taking them home. It was such a horrible site...still trying to report the pet store, as this isn't the first time they haven't provided proper care and their babies are ALWAYS so skinny.
Sorry, got carried away, it still makes me furious and my boyfriend was about to lose it on the people that worked there just as much as I was. I worry so much about buying one from this particular store and then having Kaira get sick too. I would do it in a heartbeat if I already had my vet degree...his jaw and head had been severally damaged and he couldn't even close one side of his mouth all of the way. He needed to see a vet immediately.
Anyways, sorry about the ranting. I wish we had taken him home and the other baby they had...you have done so much for your little guy and have given him an amazing life.

beardie osk, i will try to get a picture of us, though i might make sure its out of focus :mrgreen: . about the movie; yes i've heard of helen keller though i havn't seen the any movies about her. i'll look for it, i recall being very interested when they were teaching us about her in class.


luvthydragon, i sent that PM. sorry it took so long. he does look pretty happy in those new pics doesn't he? i'm glad to hear my dragon has a fan out there. the earthquake didn't hurt anything, by the way(not for me at least) it just knocked over a couple cologne bottles and scared my dog. i'll keep posting every chance i get, tommorow probably. thanks again :wink: .


barbara, the little one is about 9 inches long. i know thats small for 10 months but he has been making an awesome recovery since i got the reptisun. i assume it also has to do with his hard past. about bathing, i had just finished bathing him when i came in and read your post... SPOOKY :lol: . he doesn't resist bath time, but he seems weary. he probably doesnt feel safe with his short little limbs. you've probably seen in my pics that i fold up a paper towell for him to rest his upper body on. sometimes he even crawls completely onto the towell, dipping only his legs in. thank you for your remarks on his color. i'm glad that people can see his colors the way i see them now. he is pale on the top of his head. is this something to worry about? i think you can see it in the most recent pics. any info would help. about the food sharing: that is funny. sometimes when my beardies being finicky, i hold the cricket infront of my mouth and make smacking sounds like im eating it :lol: . it usually draws his attention :roll: . i wouldn't mind sharing food with him either. when i was a little kidi used to share ice cream cones with my dog :mrgreen: .


protiemama, i'm glad you two are enjoying him. what she said is so true: he has so much extra character and personality, i don't care what he's missing. thanks again for taking intrest :wink: .


iluvlizardlips, lol lizard lips... aren't zak n' weezie amazing?! i love the way their personalities are completely different. thank you for taking intrest in my little one. that is great that you give your beardies kisses, hehe. how do they react, you putting your face/mouth that close up to them? i think my beardie would freak out. to him, my head would seem like a 2 story building with eyes :shock: ! i'm glad to hear the pictures are showing up clear. i have to give that camera back soon. i'm going to take as many pics/vids as possible before it goes back. thanks again for taking intrest!

diamc, again with the kissing! i really am curious how my beardy would respond to me putting my fact that close up to him. i always assumed he would think i'm trying to eat him. thanks for commenting on the colors. i used to think they were nothing to brag about unless he was under direct sunlight. now that he's got a reptisun though, he shows these beautiful colors all the time. i will continue posting pics as long as i am capable :wink: .

mummybear, wow thank you so much for taking the time to read his story. i know it's a long read, i just reread it the other day to see for myself how hes improved since coming here. thank you for your kind words and for your support. that first post is a real tear jerker, but it pretty much goes straight uphill from there! i'll be sure to keep posting new pics as often as possible .

amalsg07, isn't his color/pattern nice? i can't believe anyone would consider him a throw-away beardie! i would pick him all over again if i had the choice, the only difference being i would have grabbed all his siblings too. as you can tell, i've gotten use to saying he/his/him too. maybe it's because im a guy or because it just looked like a boy when i first got "him". breeding feeders, i need to start doing that. although my guy doesnt eat me out of house and home, it wouldnt hurt to have a cheap, constant supply. it's good to here you have your eye on some special-needs beardies. i know there are so many in need, it seems hard sometimes to walk out of the petstore without the poor little one. thanks again for your kind words, ill be sure to keep you updated :wink: .

kirby, isn't he? he started showing these colors indoors only after i installed the reptisun 10.0, before that he was greyish-tan. he is so much healthier now, his belly is the creamiest white... i want to put him on a clear piece of glass and take a pic from underneath to show how pretty his underside looks. then again, i don't want to traumatize him :mrgreen: . thanks again!

it takes me a while to post replies to everyone like that so sometimes i put it off for a day or two. the reason i try to do it that way is so it saves some work for the server. i figure one post that addresses everyone will be less of a load for the server than one post for each reply.

Love the red color, peaking out on his back, such a handsome boy/girl, I don't think he'd stress out on the glass to take a picture, you could put a folded face cloth for him to rest his head on, he may wiggle though.

We all can't get enough of this little guy, and his journey.

About showing affection, I always pick up my boys, bring them close, and rub their cheek down the side of their lips, they love it. :love5: (I do know some beardies don't like you to touch their lips) mine don't have a problem with it.
This is what I do know though, your baby knows who you are........... and what you've done for him............. I'm sure he knows your not going to eat him............ there is an undeniable bond between beardie and owner, that only beardie parents understand. :wink:

That really sums it up...I can never think of the right words to exactly explain what I think/feel about this amazing bond they have. Thanks for putting it into words...I think for all of us.

as far as kissing my beardies: i raised Batesie from a hatchling, and he's been kissed all his life ... when he was 3 inches long, we would watch TV together and he would sleep laying across the inside of my elbow (it's warmer) .... i couldn't help but kiss his sweet little back ... as time went on, i began pecking his little lips ... he never got upset, but would occasionally stick out that funny little round tongue to see what in the world was coming at him lol .... but he doesn't seem to mind at all .... he loves to snuggle at night and watch TV ... i'll be lying down with him on my chest, and he'll lazily "burrow" his head up against my neck and go to sleep ... so sweet!!!
i adopted Lucy when she was about a year old, but she's never minded kisses either .... they know me so well, i guess they were never afraid ... Lucy, however, is too active to snuggle .... she wants to explore too much, so i have to be alert whenever she's out .... the only time i've ever been nipped by either of them is when i've had food in my hand, and they thought my finger was a pinky mouse or something ...
as i said, i've had Batesie for over 5 years, and i haven't gotten sick from kissing .... of course, i avoid kissing any part of him that may have dragged or stepped in poo (feet, hands, etc) .... :? ... i'm sure you could contract salmonella that way ....

Jason: i've been thinking more about the kissing, hugging thing .... i hope you don't feel compelled to kiss or snuggle with your little boy just because others of us do ...... i mean, he's not going to need to visit a lizard psychiatrist when he's older due to lack of kisses or anything :laughhard: ... i'm the mom of two human boys, and i've just always been a kisser-cuddler to all my babies (both human and animal)... for me personally, it's like a primitive instinct or something ....
not that i have to tell you all that, but i didn't want you to be feeling like you're a "beardie outcast" if you simply aren't drawn to scaly lizard lips!
