Hey, I just thought that i would give an update on my little guy, _______. Yep, he still has no name. I have had him for over a month, but if it weren't for people on this site and others, he may not still be around. I would have soaked up all the advice from  Petco  and done it all wrong. And for that, i want to say thanks. He just finished shedding his tail yesterday, now he has to finish his head, then it starts all over. Here are a bunch of pics I took of him today.

He really likes his greens, but only if I hand feed him.

My dog, Scout, get EXTREMELY jealous whenever I pay attention to the beardie or my leopard gecko. So I took some pics of her.

I forgot to get a pic of my leo, but I'll try to get one tomorrow. Thanks for looking!

He's adorable! I'm glad you found the advice here so he's still around! There is a link here somewhere to a list of names, maybe look through that and see what you can come up with. We used to have leopard gecko's as well, yours is pretty. I'll have to get my son to try the washcloth in the bottom when Puff is bathing, maybe he'll like it better. He doesn't do bad, but he doesn't "love" it. We tried hand feeding him greens when he was little and he still would have nothing to do with them. We just had to be consistent in having them available and he finally started eating them. When he did start eating them we went through different veggies singly to see which ones he liked best. Carrots have won so far!

Thanks! Yeah I've been looking through all the "help with names" threads, but haven't found anything that has clicked. The cloth really works, mine just always freaks out like i'm trying to drown him, but he didn't this time. I guess the fact that he could grab on to something helped. Good thing he started to like veggie, they can't hold out forever, they always have to start eating them. Carrots, eh? maybe I'll try giving my guy a little.

I gave him a bath with a towel/rag on the bottom today, and it worked! I filled his bath up with nice warm water, then I rinsed the cloth in hot water and put it on the bottom. He was so relaxed and calm this time! He could just walk around or float without being stresses. He even swan a little! Thanks, Diane! Sorry I didn't get any pics, by the time i remembered to, he pooped in the water, so I put him back in his tank to warm up.

Andy
That's great, it really is amazing how something so simple can make such a BIG difference. It does indeed give them a feeling of security and helps relax them. So, he even swam a little? Bet you were surprised to witness that. :D Would love to see pictures next time. After my beardies poop in their water, they scramble in my hands making them hard to hang onto until I have fresh water so they can jump back in.

Yep, I love the way they swim. As I was taking him out, he tried to get back in his poopy water, but it was time for him to go home, lol. I'll try to get some pics tomorrow. Oh, I also found out that he loves Dubia today. He's gonna have to wait until they get bigger until he can eat many more. Is it better to give them a bath before or after they eat?

That's great that he loves dubias, they're very good for him.

Since baths are relaxing, I feed them before their baths. Also, since baths help them poop, might as well get rid of it all at once.

Ok, I'll feed him then I'll give him a nice warm bath. I asked my mother about ordering phoenix worms and she told me to go away lol, so I guess that's not happening right now.

Yea, I've heard squash is great! I gotta buy some veggies for him today, so I'll get some squash too, although he did start eating salad again... well, even more treats!

Thanks! My guy loves his salads, so I don't think I have to worry too much. Try butternut squash, they can't get enough.

Andy
Is the butternut squash cooked, or is that a stupid question?? Very nice pets, seems you have got good taste.

No, you don't need to cook the squash, just shred it into pieces, they love it that way.

Andy, he looks SO cute. :love5: He actually looks sure of himself and very relaxed in his bath. His coloring is just popping out, isn't it?

He sure loves his bridge, looks like he's showing off. You gotta come up with a name for him because they learn their names very quickly. Have you thought about any Mythology names perhaps?

His salad looks yummy, does he usually eat it all?

He gets darker in his tank, doesn't he? Just curious what the basking temp is, I'm wondering if he might want it just a little warmer perhaps.

Thanks for posting the great pictures for all of us to enjoy (especially me.)

Thanks! Yep, he always gets brighter during his baths. I was thinking of names in mythology, history, etc. Because a lot of people seem to do that, so I'm working on it. He usually eats a bit of his salad, its noticeable, but he doesn't eat it all. Yeah the basking temp is a bit low because the A/C has been on for the past 2 days, so they have been off. They are usually 100- 106 (he has 3 different spots where he can bask), but they were only reaching 100 today. I wish I could mark down a specific spot on the dimmer for when the air is on and when its off. I have to fiddle with it a bit whenever the A/C goes on or off. Tomorrow I should have his basking temps where they should be. Thanks!

Ok so today I tested his basking temps (no A/C), basking: 106, 102 Hot side:88.8-92, cool side: 83ish. He has a nice creamy white belly today, and has just been lounging around for the past few hours. He really doesn't like it when the air is on, I guess that's why he had stress marks yesterday. Too cold for him. I have a question: Do you think he's shrimpy? I have no idea of his actual age, but he's at least 2 months. I can't get a good measurement, because he's so quick and likes to crawl up me when i try. I'll try to get a good measurement later. Also, I think I'm going to order some Phoenix worms to see if I can fatten him up a bit.

Those are good temps. I imagine it does cool off a little too much when the AC is on. What if you got another clamp lamp and put a lower wattage household bulb in, like a 25 or 40 then when you are home & the AC is running, see what temps you get then. You could only use the 2nd heat bulb when the AC is on.

I think he looks good, he is growing in length right now. How many feeders does he eat a day? Getting some phoenix worms would be a good idea and even butters would be a perfect size for him, would be easy to digest & would help with a little weight.

I do have another dome, and a 50 watt halogen bulb. I'll try turning it on next time the air is on.

Thanks for the reassurance. I try to give him about 20 crickets a day, but some days he just gets his salad. At least he eats the salad, so he doesn't go without food. I'm putting in an order for Phoenix's tomorrow, so I'm really hoping he eats them. I'm not sure if I can get butters. Do you know if stores sell them? I can't get more feeders online any time soon.

Thanks!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
